DESIGN FOR A MEMORIAL PLAQUE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16.768, dated July 6. 1886.
Application filed March 8,1896. Serial No. 194,508.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES M. HALL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklvn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Veterans Memorial Plaquepf which the following is aspccificalion, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
My record plaque consists of a circular disk flat or slightly concave or convex. having at its center a representation of the badge of the Grand Army of the Republic. Surrounding the outer edge of the disk area series of blank spaces, some round and others oblong. and
either depressed below or raised above the general surface. At the top of the plaque, between the central design and the outer row of spaces, is a representation of the coat of arms of the United States. At various points in this inner belt of the disk are conventional representations of the surrender of General Lee, Fort Sumter, a drum-stack, astack of muskets,a cannon and pile of balls,and,finally, a soldier and sailor supportinga blank shield, the whole being arranged substantially as shown.
A A, &e., are blank spaces following the outer curve of the disk. 0 is a larger space of the same shape.
D are small blank circular spaces; 13, a blank shield of oval shape, supported upon either side by a soldier, M, and a sailor, N.

G is a representation of Fort Sumter.
H is a conventional representation of the surrender of General Lee.

Having now fully described my invention, 5 what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Paten is-- A niemcniorial plaque consisting of a disk having around its outer edge a row of oblong blank spaces with round blank spaces, at its 0 center the shield of the Grand Army of the Republic, above this central design the coat of arms of the United States, and at various other parts of its surface conventional representations of the surrender of Lee, a stack of 55 muskets, a drum-stack, Fort Sumter, a cannon and pile of shot, and a soldier and sailor supporting a blank shield, all arranged substantially as shown and described.
