Application filed February 19,1903. Serial No. l'i hl68- Term of patent 14 years,
it (LZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES A. L. TOTTEN, of Milford, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new, original, and ornamental Design for a Button or Similar Article; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, in-
Figure 1, a full-size top view of a lapelbutton embodying the same; Fig. 2, a sectional view thereof. Fig. 3 shows the design upon the reverse of the button.
As herein shown, my design consists of a circular head A, shank B, and base 0. The
ornamentation on the face of the head consists, first, of a five-pointed constellation composed of thirteen smaller five-pointed stars D, all concentrically arranged so as to face outward from the interior or central one, the seven interior to the exterior five being arranged in a circle; second, beyond the blank space occupied by the central star cluster there is a glory or circle of rays E, and, third, these rays are seen to break the surrounding circular cloud F into thirteen sections, each and all shaded dark upon the outside and shown as rolling back, while the glory, itself indicated by a series of radiating lines,breaks through and beyond,as indicated by the circular milled edge G, which finishes the artistic face part of the design.
Upon the base 0 of the button appears an eye H in a triangle J, surrounded by rays K, forming a glory to complete the design.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The ornamental design for a button or similar article, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses;
