To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, OSCAR A. DE Lone, a citizen of the United States, residing at Montclair, in the county of Essex, in the State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Pocket-Books or Purses, of which the following is a description.

My invention relates especially to that class of pocket books or purses for carrying coin in a garment pocket, and has for its object the provision of a device of this description wherein provision is made for retaining the coin in one portion of the purse in such manner that it cannot escape therefrom, and for permitting such coin to pass to the other portion of the purse where it is exposed to view for selecting such coin as itis desired to use, providing a very handy and effective coin holder.

To obtain the desired end, my invention consists in certain novel-and useful combinations or arrangements of parts and peculiarities of construction and operation, all of which will be hereinafter first fully described, and then pointed out in the claim.

In the drawing, Figure 1 is a plan view of a purse embodying my invention, showing the same as opened out. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal, central sectional view at line 2-2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view at line 4% of Fig. 1, showing the purse as folded. Fig. 4 is a like view at line lt0f Fig. 1 when the purse is not folded. Fig. 5 is a sectional view at line 4;-fl.- of Fig. 1 showing the position the parts of the purse assume when it is desired to pass coin from the closed to the open portion thereof.

Similar numerals of reference, wherever they occur, indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

any appropriate material, secured at each end within the purse, and crossing the same in proximity to the opening 5.

WVhen constructed and arranged in accord ance with the foregoing description, while very simple, my improved pocket book or purse will be found to be admirably adapted to the uses and purpose for which it is intended. In use, when it is desired to introduce coin, the spring is bowed, as illustrated in Fig. 5 of the drawing by slight pressure at the ends of the spring. The coin is placed in the opening 5, and by tilting that end of the purse, will slide into the closed portion; by releasing the spring, the mouth of that portion of the purse will be closed, effectually preventing the escape of the coin, and then the purse is folded together, as illustrated in Fig. 3 of the drawing. When it is desired to extract the coin, the flap having the opening therein is thrown back, the spring pressed, and by tilting the purse toward the opening the coin will pass from the inclosed portion, and the desired coin or coins may be readily selected, the rim 6 preventing any coin falling from the purse.

Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new therein, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

As a new article of manufacture, a pocket book or purse consisting of a back piece, a front piece secured thereto at their meeting edges, and opening at one end of the front piece, a spring secured to the front portion at the side of the opening therein, the two portions being adapted to fold together on the side of the spring opposite to the opening, substantially as shown and described.
