The Schedule referred to these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

Figure 2 is a view showing the said stool closed, and in a position favorable for packing, which said stool is thus closed in the manner and by the means substantially as hereinafter described;
Figure 3 is al perspective View of said stool, showing the same partly open, and more clearly representing the various parts thereof, hereinafter more fully described and specified; and
'Figre4is a top lview of said stool, showing the seat, and also showing by dotted lines the positions of the arms and legs, as more fully hereinafter described.
The nature of my said inventionand improvements consists in so 'constructing a camp-stool of two sets of legs or arms, and so arranged and combined together by means of a centre-piece and hinges, that the same may be compactly folded for packing or other purposes, substantially in the manner hereinafter fully described and set forth.
It also consists in the use and employment of suitably-constructed springs attached to and .combined vwith the lower arms or legs of said camp-stool, substantially in the manner and for the purposes more fully hereinafter described and set forth.
.To enable others skilled in the art to which my invention relates to make and use the same, I will proceed to describe the construction and operation thereof, which is as follows, to wit: 4 y
A, flgs. 1 and3, is a round centre-piece, which-I design to make of hard, 'well-seasoned wood, and of anyv size and strength' required. This vcentro-piece has an upward projection, B, and downward projection, G, more fully hereinafter described.
At or near the upper part of this centre-piece A, I attach or connect thereto, by suitably-constructed hinges, the arms D D', Sto., flgs..1 and' 3, which said Aarms may be made of any material' deemed best .to
use, and of any size and strength required.
At the lower/.end of said centre-piece A, I attach or hinge, by similar means as above described, the. lower arms or legs, E E', &c., which I design to construct substantially the same as the arms D D, 8vo., heretofore described.
These arms and legs are so hinged to the centrepiece A, as to allow themto turn down and in, iiush with the said centre-piece A.
E E, dto., and centre-piece A, the said legs are prevented'from being extended or spread out beyond what it is necessary to extend the same` for sittingpurposes, as shown at fig. 1. FF, 85e., ligs..1 and 3, are, suitably-constructed springs, of steel or other metal, andl attached to th inside of the legs E E, 8vo., for the lpurpose. of holding the said legs in a position favorable for sitting, as shown 'at iig. 1.
H, iig'. 4, is thelseat or apron, made of leather, carpeting, or other material, and is fastened or attached to the' frame of the stool by means of the hooks or claws, I I, gs. land 3.
The yvarious parts of my said camp-stool, except 'the centre-piece A and springs F F,&c., I design to make of malleable iron-,which I deem the most durable, and the best adapted to the required purpose; and the vsize and strength' of said parts may be varied as deemed best.- Y
At lig. 1, my improved camp-stool is shown open,- and in a position favorable for use. 'When desired to close the same for packing or other purposes, the seat 'or apron H is removed, and the legs E E, 85e., pressed inward, close to the centre downward projections C,
DD, 86o., will fall downward as shown by dotted lines at iig. 3 of the accompanying drawings. The stool will then present the appearance shown at fig. 2, and in this position the same will occupy. but little space, and may easily be carried in the handv or packed for transportation.
Having thus described the nature of my said'iuvention and improvements, What I claimas new, and desire to secure by 'Letters Patent of the United States', is'-- The arms D DI, legs E E', hinged' to the centrepiece A, and the springs F E', each and all being constructed, arranged, combined, and operated as a whole, inthe manner .and forthe purposes .substantially as herein described and set forth.
