Be it known that I, A. M. OLDS, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Portable Folding Fence; and I do hereby declaro that the following isa full and exact description thereof, reference being had toA the accompanying drawings, and tothe letters of reference marked thereon, which form part of this specification. l I

Figure 2 represents one of the braces detached therefrom.

Figure 3 represents a brace for supporting a fence elevated from the ground.

This invention consists in so constructing a portable fence that panels or sections may be completely folded together, as may be desired, when not in use. I

C represents braces, which are made secure to horizontal pieces, D, on which the fence rests, both being provided lwith suitable notches for attaching and holding the same in position. e

E are short pieces, extending from the long braces to one of the middle boards, for giving additional sup'h port, the whole, when attached, not only'holding the fence in a vertical position, but serving as a gripe for pressing the boards together, giving additional strength in case of shrinkage.

In fig. 3,'I have 'shown a self-sustaining fence-brace, for a narrower fence, elevating it from'the ground. This is accomplished by pivoting one end ofthe shorter piece of the brace, D', tothe longer one, C', at the `requisite distance from the bottom, so that the fence will be held secure in the notches, I I, by its own weight,

the gripe being in proportion to the weight of thesame. Y This fence, beingpso convenient for use, and so easily and cheaply constructed, is believed to be an improvement which the entire,farming-community will appreciate.

The above fence may be set up in the form of a worm-fence, without the braces, if occasion requires. Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- The herein-describedcombinationfconsisting of a fence constructed in pivoted panels, and supported by clamping-braces, substantially as described, and for the purposes set forth.
