Be it known that I, ELBRIDGE G. O0E,a citizen of the United States, residing at Sparta, in the county of Morrow and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Covers for Sliding-Door Tracks, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to an improvement in sectional covers for sliding-door tracks, the object being to provide a cover which can be easily shipped in a knockdown condition, which can be readily assembled and made to shed water in either direction, and which will be effectual in keeping water, snow, and ice out and the track, as well as the wheels, in good running order. 7

With the foregoing in View my invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts, which will be hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view of a roof of this construction. Fig. 2 is a cross-section. Fig. 3 is a detail, and Fig. 4 is a view of the parts of the bracket detached from each other.

A A represent the metal plates forming this roof or covering. These are all alike, and one only need be described. It consists of sheet metal, galvanized iron, or the like. It has the upwardly-extending flange l at the upper edge, by which it is nailed to the building above the track. From the lower edge of the flange the metal is bent to slope downward to constitute the roof portion 2 and from the lower edge of this roof portion downward again to form the side 3, and then the lower edge is bent upward to form a trough 4. One end of the roof portion is bent to form the inturned lip 5 and the other end the outturned lip 6, the two being adapted to fit together, and holes 7 7 are formed in the ends to receive rivets, bolts, or other securing devices by which the plates are fastened together. Each plate is braced and held in place by a bracket preferably composed of the two metal straps 8 and 9, secured together,- and one of which is bent to conform to the shape of the plate and secured thereto. Each plate has one ofv these brackets thus formed at a corresponding end, and the edges of the plate may be riveted right through the bracket.

A cover of this construction may be put together so as to shed the water in either direction.

One or more of the plates may have an opening 10 through which to oil the bearings.

The cover is'easily and cheaply made, can be quickly placed in position, and can be con veniently shipped, as it is intended to be shipped in a knockdown condition.

It is evident that slight changes might be made in the form and arrangement of the several parts described without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, and hence I do not wish to limit myself to the exact construction herein set forth; but,

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

. 1. A cover or roof for sliding-doortracks or the like comprising sections each of which is composed of a plate having a trough at the lower edge.

2. A cover or roof for sliding-door tracks or the like composed of independent plates, each having a flange at the upper edge by which to be secured in place and interlocking backwardly-turned flanges at the side edges for at tachment to the next adjacent plate. v

3. A cover or roof for sliding-door tracks or the like comprising independent plates each of which is bent to form a sloping roof portion and a vertical portion,- the sloping roof por tion having inturned flanges whereby to lock to the adjacent plate.

4. A cover or roof for sliding-door tracks comprising sections detachably secured to gether and independent of the track to be covered, each section having a bracket by which it is securely braced and held in position.

5. A cover for sliding-door tracks compris ing plates of sheet metal bent to form a trough at the lower edge and to interlock at adjacent edges.

6. The combination with a plate bent to form an upturned flange at the upper edge by means of which it is secured in place, a sloping roof, a vertically-disposed side and a trough at the lower edge, of a bracket made secure to each plate for holding the plate securely in place.
