Description

No. 633,069. Patentedsepm'z, |899;
c. F. Jones.
SHADE ROLLER.
(Application tiled May 18, 1899.)
fm l @www i f Vw mom Nrrn STATES CHARLES F. JONES, OF BLANCIIETT, KENTUCKY.
SHADE-ROLLER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 633,009, dated September 12, 1899. Application filed May 13, 1899. Serial No. 716,784. (No model) To @ZZ whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES F. JoNEs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Blanchett, in the county of Grant and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shade-Rollers; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description ofthe invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention has rela-tion to vertically-adjustable shade-rollers.
The object of the invention is to provide simple, inexpensive, and effective means for lowering or hoisting` the shade-roller, so as to admit light and air over the top of the curtain and at the same time permit of the adjustment of the curtain upon its roll.
NVith this object in view the invention consists in certain features of construction and combination of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure l is a view of a window-frame illustrating the application of my invention, the shade-roller being shown in its elevated position and the shade partially drawn. Fig. 2 is asimilar view, the roller being shown in its lowered position with the shade drawn.
In the drawings, l denotes the windowframe, and 2 denotes a shade-roller of the Hartshorn type. This roller is supported in brackets 3, secured'to a cross-rod 4.
5 denotes two systems of lazy-tongs levers the lowermostlevers of each system being connected to the cross-bar, while the uppermost levers of each system are pivoted upon a screw or stud 6, and one of each set of the uppermost levers has an extension or arm 7, the upper ends of which are pivoted to the upper cross-bar S.
9 denotes an operating rod 4working through the vertical aperture lO in the bracket ll and held in adjustment bya set-screw12. The upper end of this bracket-arm is pivoted to the laterally-projecting arm of one of the extensions 7.
In operation, assuming the shade-roller to ment of the operating-rod will raise the roller with its shade.
Itwill be noticed that but a slight movement of the operating-rod is necessary to move the roller from the position shown in Fig. l to that shown in Fig. 2.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is
The combination ofa lower rod, shaderoller brackets secured thereto, systems of lazytongs levers connected to the said rod, one of the upper levers of each system having an extension, an upper cross-rod connecting the said extensions, and an Voperating-lever for actuating the systems of levers, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing wit nesses.
OHAS. F. JONES.
