U ITED STATES;
PATENT OFFICE,
SARAH ARLETA BAXTER BURKE, OF MUSCOGEE, INDIAN TERRITORY.
FAN ATTACHMENT FOR SEWING-MACHINES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 619,935, dated February 21, 1899.
Application filed January 24, 1898- Serial No. 667,840. (No model.)
To all whom it incty c0ncern:
Be it known that I, SARAH ARLETA BAXTER BURKE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Muscogee, Greek Nation, Indian Territory, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Fan Attachments for Sewing-Machines, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a cheap and simple means for fastening a fan to the fly-wheel of a sewing-machine, and is attained by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents a sewing-machine with my invention attached thereto, and Fig. 2 is a detail view of clamp and fan.
Similar numerals refer to similar parts throughout both views.
The numeral 1 refers to the fly-wheel of a sewing-machine.
2 is a clamp formed with two jaws pivoted together, one of said jaws carrying a socket 3, in which the handle 4 of a fan 5 may be inserted and there secured by a thumb-screw 7. The free extremities of the jaws are shaped to fit the rim or spoke of a fly-wheel and are clamped thereto by means of the thumbscrew 6.
Having described my invention, what I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a fan attachment for sewing-machines, the combination with a clamp, consisting of a pair of jaws pivoted together and formed to fit the fiy-Wheel rim or spoke, of means for clamping the same upon the rim or spoke, and a socket upon one of said jaws, formed to secure a fan.
