Description

Dec. 23, 1969 H. TEMPELHOF FIREMEN'S QUICK-ACTON TROUSERS F'iled April 22. 196
United States Patent O U.S. Cl. 2-227 3 Claims ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Trousers which may be quickly put on are disclosed. These trousers have an upper portion which includes a band-like fastening element. This element is supported by upper lateral portions of the trousers and extends from these portions through eye means spacedfrom the locations where the element is supported, and then extends away from the trousers so as to form a loop so that the trousers may be secured in position by the element being located around the neck and over the shoulders of a person wearing the trousers. As the element is so located, the trousers are drawn together between the locations where the element is supported and the eye means.
The present invention relates to new and improved firemens trousers having a bandlike continuous holding member that serves as a band holder as well as a suspender. The overtrousers disclosed herein are suited above all to be drawn up and secured in very short time. They are especially intended to be used by firemen.
Until now, such trousers were made substantially the same as conventional trousers, and means, such as a belt buckle, buttons and the like were provided on such overalls for closing the trouser band for holding the trousers in position. It is always time-consuming to use such means.
It has been previously proposed to provide overtrousers with a fastening element that comprises a band-holder and a pair of Suspenders so as to eliminate the diiculties in using such means. In this type of known overtrousers, however, the band cannot be opened so far as to permit the overtrousers to be put on easily unless they are constructed in a special manner.
The present invention is intended to provide overtrousers that may be put-on to stay on with a minimum of difficulty.
The overtronsers disclosed here have a trouser band and fastener means for such a band and are characterised in that the fastening means engage the trouser band and in that the fastening at same is freely slidable through a guide member attached to the trouser-band at a distance from such a point of such engagement, and in that the fastening means is formed as suspender.
Two forms of the invention are shown in the drawing, in which FIG. l is a perspective view of the upper portion of a pair of trousers, according to a first embodiment of the invention, and
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the rear upper portion of a pair of trousers according to a second embodiment of the invention.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, there is shown a pair of trousers T having a front upper portion 3 and a rear upper portion 4 separated by two lateral cutouts 1 and 2 that extend downwardly from the tops of the trousers. A band-like fastening element 7 that serves as belt as well as Suspenders or braces has end portions 7a and 7b which are connected to the rear edges 5 and 6 of the cutouts 1 and 2, respectively. On front edges 8 and 9 of the cutouts 1 and 2, respectively there are located 3,484,870 Patented Dec. 23, 1969 ICC two rings or eyes 10 and 11. The fastening element 7 is passed through these rings 10 and 11 so that it forms a loop 7c between these two rings. An adjustable buckle 12 for changing the length of the element 7 is located on this element between each of the cutouts 1 and 2. These bukes 12 are positioned adjacent to the rear edges 5 an The trousers described are normally kept ready for use with the portions 3 and 4 pulled apart so that the trousers can be stepped into without hindrance. When they have been stepped into they are pulled up `and the loop 7c is located so as to extend behind the users neck and in front over the shoulders of such a person. Then the look 7c may be lengthened or shortened through the use of the buckles 12 so that the trousers tit comfortably with the cutouts 1 and 2 held closed.
In FIG. 2 there is shown a pair of trousers T, which differ from the trousers T shown in FllG. 1 in that the fastening element 7 is as endless band which extends around the upper rear portion of trousers in the manner in which a conventional belt is held by belt loops 13. This fastening element 7' is capable of sliding with respect to the loops 13 of the trousers. As shown in FIG. 2 cutouts 1' and 2 may be provided in trousers T.
In both forms of the invention the front and the rear portions of the trouser band may be interchanged.
It will be realized that the trousers described may be put on rapidly. It will also be realized that the length of the fastening elements may be altered when required in a minimum of time.
I claim:
1. A pair of trousers having front and back waist portions normally separated by side cutouts having adjacent ends, said trousers having eye means on both of the ends of said front waist portion, said trousers also having a unitary strap-like fastening element for securing said trousers in place, said fastening element being supported at the ends of said back waist portion and extending across said cutouts and slidably through said eye means and forming a halter-like loop extending upwardly from said trousers between said eye means, said loop being sufficiently long so that said trousers may be secured in position by said loop being located around the back of the neck and across the shoulder of a person wearing said trousers and in so doing will draw said front and back waist portions together.
2. A pair of trousers as claimed in claim 1 wherein said fastening element has ends, and means are provided for securing each end of said fastening element to an end of said back waist portion.
3. A pair of trousers as claimed in claim 1 wherein said trousers has loops on said back waist portion, and said element passes through said loops.
