FOLDING-GUIDE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 331,622, dated November 24, 1885.
Application filed March 6, 1885. Serial No; 157,895. (No model.)

Be it known that 1, Aims P. BARBER, J r., a citizen of the United States, residing at Rahway, in the county of Union and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Folding-Guides; and I do declare the following to be a full,clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and'use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 represents the entire device, showing in plan how it is placed in position. Fig. 2 is an enlarged side view. Fig. 3 is a perspective View of the half-hemmer proper.
This invention relates to what are known as half-hemmers, and its object is to produce one in which the work will not clog.
In the annexed drawings, the letter A indicates the usual securing-plate for fastening the device to the bed-plate of the machine. This plate has hinged to it a plate, B, provided with aslider-bar, O, the arrangement of which is fully set forth in another application filed herewith, serial number 157 ,894, and to which reference is made.
The halfhemmer F has the forksff, by which it is adjust-ably held on the plate B, like the full hemnier described in the application referred to. This lialf-hernmer F has the usual folder, f. The topf of this folder is hinged at f, and can be turned back, as shown in Fig. 8. This admits of the work being readily inserted in the folder f.
It will be seen that if the work tends to clog, the strain Will cause the topf' to move on the A. SIDNEY DOANE.
