United States Patent O LAVABOS Maurits S. Eriksson, Ulriksdal, Sweden j Application December 18, 1952, Serial No. 326,623
Claims priority, application Sweden December 21, 1951 3 Claims. (Cl. 4-166) This invention relates to a device in those lavabos in which the basin is displaceably arranged in the vertical direction along guides or the like, and which are provided with means for fixing the basin in the desired position as well as with means for supplying and controlling the water to the tap of the lavabo, said tap communieating with the water conduits by means of a flexible hose, e. g. of rubber, cocks for controlling the tapping of the water being by means of telescopic bars or the like adapted to actuate the valve in the water conduits, in order to make it possible to ix the tap and the cocks to the basin.
This invention is characterized in that the cocks for controlling and tapping the water are fixed on a wall at which the basin of the lavabo is displaceably arranged in the vertical direction, and furthermore in that a pipe is arranged from the cocks to a point below the lowest position of the basin, said pipe communicating with the tap by means of the flexible hose.
An embodiment of the device according to the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 is a lateral View, and
Fig. 2 is a front view of the device.
Numeral 2 designates the basin of the lavabo and 3 a tap for hot and cold water respectively. The basin is carried by a frame 5 which is slidably arranged on a vertical rod 6. The inner portion of the frame is provided with a clamping means 7 engaging the rod 6. Furthermore, the frame is provided with a downwardly directed projection 8 equipped with clamping means 9 slidingly arranged on and engaging said rod. The rod is provided with recesses 10 so that the basin can be lixed in the desired position by means of splint 11 passed through a bore in the clamp 9. In order to raise and lower the basin 2, the water conduits 15 and 16 are connected to the tap 3 by means of a conduit 30 drawn from a common mixer 18 in the wall 31 to a position below the lowest position of the basin where the conduit is connected with the tap by means of a exible hose 17. According to the invention the cocks 32 and 33 are thus fixed on the wall and the tap 3 is fixed on the basin displaceable in the vertical plan.
Numeral 27 designates a water trap from which extends a pipe 28 in which a pipe 29 extending from the outtake of the basin 2 is displaceably arranged. The water trap and the outtake may also be connected to each other by means of a exible hose.
It is therefore clear that this invention provides a lavabo including a supporting standard means that is positioned to extend vertically adjacent a wall. A basin is slidably supported on the standard means for vertical adjustment and means are included for locking the basin in selected vertically adjusted positions. The supply and discharge of water relative to the basin includes an arrangement in which there is an outlet pipe xedly mounted and underlying the basin and a discharge pipe carried by the basin and telescopically engaging and communicating with the outlet pipe. In keeping with Patented Sept. 6, 1955 the inventive concept, it is possible to arrange a flexible hose between the outlet pipe and the basin. To supply water to the basin hot and cold water pipes are mounted within the wall and respectively communicate with a water mixer also lxedly mounted within the wall. Control cocks or valves are associated with the respective hot and cold water pipes at a fixed level above the standard means for controlling the supply of water to the mixer and thus to the basin. There is a water supply pipe within the wall connected at one end to the water mixer and extending downwardly from the mixer to below the lowest vertical position that can be assumed by the basin during adjustment thereof. There is a water tap xedly supported by the basin and movable therewith in the vertical movements thereof and a ilexible conduit provides communication between the water tap on the basin and the outlet end of the water supply pipe. It thus follows that the control of the supply of water to the mixer and the tap is at a xed level above the standard and thus above the highest position of the basin while the discharge of water from the tap into the basin always remains at a fixed level relative to the basin regardless of the vertically adjusted position of the basin.
The invention is not restricted to the embodiment disclosed. The details may be varied in many ways without going beyond the scope of the invention.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. In a lavabo of the type including a water basin, supporting means including means for vertically adjustably supporting the basin adjacent a wall and controllable supply conduit means and a discharge water conduit, the improvements comprising a water mixer xed within the wall above the supporting means, said controllable supply conduit means including hot and cold water conduits fixed in the wall and communicating with the water mixer, a further conduit within the wall extending downwardly from said mixer and terminating in an outlet exteriorly of the wall at a point below the lowest vertical position of the basin, control cocks xed to the wall for controlling the hot and cold water supply, a water tap fixed to the basin, an outlet pipe means carried by the basin and communicating with the discharge water conduit and a ilexible pipe extending between the water tap and the said further conduit whereby the control of the supply of water to the basin remains at a fixed level while the water tap remains at a fixed level relative to the basin regardless of the vertically adjusted position of the basin.
2. A lavabo comprising a supporting standard means positioned vertically adjacent a wall, a basin slidably supported thereon for vertical adjusting movement, means for locking the basin in selected vertically adjusted positions, an outlet pipe underlying the basin, a discharge pipe carried by the basin and telescopically engaging and communicating with said outlet pipe, a water mixer mounted within the wall above the standard means, hot and cold water conduits within the wall and respectively communicating with the water mixer, control means for the water conduits lixed to the wall, accessible exteriorly thereof, and respectively controlling thehot and cold water supply to the mixer, a water supply pipe within the wall communicating with and extending downwardly from the mixer to a point below the lowest vertical position of the basin, a water tap xed to the basin and a iiexible conduit communicating between the water tap and the water supply pipe whereby the control of the supply of water to the mixer and tap is at a lixed level above the standard means while the discharge of water from and the tap is at a xed level relative to the basin regardless of the vertically adjusted position of the basin.
3. In a lavabo of the type including a vertically adjustable basin supported adjacent a wall, the improve- ReferencesCited in the le of this patent NITED STATES PATENTS Mason Ian. 24, Kintz Nov. 25, Maguire Apr. 18,
