Application February 7, 1946, Serial No. 646,113
4 Claims. l
The invention as described herein, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, consists of a lavatory, an object which is to provide a common support and water supply therefor.
Another object of the invention is to provide a detached lavatory and a water supply pipe by means of which the same is largely supported.
A further object of this invention is to provide in a lavatory fixture means for rigidly supporting the lavatory spaced from a wall through a single water supply pipe which is provided with a concealed hot and cold water mixing chamber.
Other features and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following description and the accompanying illustrative drawings in which:
Figure l is a sectional elevational View of a lavatory xture formed in accordance with the instant invention,
Figure 2 is a phantom view looking from the bottom,
Figure 3 is a detail plan view of a water supply xture,
Figure 4 is an enlarged sectional view of a water spout and connections,
Figure 5 is a sectional view on line 5-5 of Figure 4, and
Figure 6 is a sectional view on line 6-6 of Figure 4.
While one embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the above referred to drawings, it is to be understood that they are merely for the purpose of illustration and that various changes in construction may be resorted to in the course of manufacture in order that the invention may be utilized to the best advantage according to circumstances which may arise, without in any way departing from the spirit and intention of the device, which is to be limited only in accordance with the appended claims. And while there is stated the primary eld of utility of the invention it remains obvious that it may be employed in any other capacity wherein it may be found applicable.
In the accompanying drawings, and in the following specification, the same reference characters are used to designate the same parts and elements throughout and in which lil refers to the invention in its entirety and II indicates a wall spaced from which is a lavatory I2, the rear table I4 of which is provided with a bore I5 with opposing slots I5 and I'I which are to receive the spout I8 for supplying both hot and cold water or a mixture of both to the basin I9. The base 20, of the spout is provided with opposing wings 2| and 22 for seating in the slots I6 and I'I in order to prevent any pivotal movement between the spout and the said basin. The spout I8 has a rearwardly extension pipe 23 provided with a xed flange or collar 24 adapted to seat ush against the face 25 of the wall II. Beyond the flange 24 the extension 26 of pipe 23 passes through the wall II and is connected with a hot and cold water supply l2I.
Extending through the spout I8, its base and integral reduced extension 28 is a pipe 29 through which a stem 30 is vertically operated by its knob 3I mounted on the stem above the spout. The lower end of stem 30 is connected at 3| to a lever 32 for controlling a stopper (not shown) for the basin I2. The extension 28 is externally screwthreaded to receive the gasket 33 and the nut 34 by which the spout is secured to the table. The bore 35 in member 20 is provided with a packing 36 at its lower end 31.
Besides being supported at its rear side 38 by said spout I8, the front 39 of the lavatory is supported by two front legs 40 and 4I formed oi.' tubes internally threaded in the upper ends 42 to receive the leveling screws -43 having heads 44 upon which the underside 45 of the lavatory seats. Connected to each of these legs at 46 and 41 are horizontal bars 48 and 49 the inner ends 50 and 5I of which are ilxed into the wall II. The hot and cold water pipes 52 and 53 are controlled by valves 54 and 55 through the stems 56 and 51 and by hand Wheels 58 and 59.
From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided a lavatory which while standing out from a wall still requires only two legs as the spout will adequately support the rear thereof and the wings 2| and 22 seating in slots I 6 and I1 will hold the lavatory against any lateral movement and perfectly rigid.
From the foregoing specification it will become apparent that the invention disclosed will adequately accomplish the functions for which it has been designed and in an economical manner and that its simplicity, accuracy and ease of operation are such as to provide a relatively inexpensive device considering what it will accomplish and that it will find an important place in the art to which it appertains when once placed on the market.
It is thought that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the invention after considering the description in connection with the drawings. Therefore, a more lengthy description is regarded as unnecessary.
Changes in shape, size and rearrangement of details and parts such as come within the purview of the invention claimed may be resorted to, in actual practice, if desired.
Having now described the invention that which is claimed to be new and desired to be procured by Letters Patent is:
1. The described device comprising a lavatory having a table and slots therein, a water spout from which said lavatory is :partly suspended, means on'the spout for holding the lavatory from movement and spaced from a wall, said means being wings extending from the spout seated vin said slots, legs for supporting the forward part of the lavatory, towel rack bars for bracing the legs, and means for adjusting said legs.
2. A plumbing fixture comprising a lavatory, common means for partially supporting said lavatory in spaced relation to a wall and for supplying liquid to said lavatory, said lavatory hav-` ing an aperture therein, said common means including a spout having a shank thereon extending through :said aperture and means for locking said vspout to said lavatory, slots communi- -cating with said aperture, and extensions on :said spout positioned in said slots.
3. 'A plumbing fixture comprising a lavatory, common means for partially supporting said lavatory in spaced relation to a wall and for supplying liquid to-said.lavatory,vsaid lavatory having an :aperture therein, said common means including `a --spout having a shank thereon extending Ithrough vsaid aperture and means for locking said spout to said lavatory, slots communicating with said aperture, extensions on said spout positioned in said slots, legs partially supporting said lavatory and means for selectively adjusting said legs.
4. A plumbing fixture comprising a lavatory, common means for partially supporting said lavatory in spaced relation to a Wall and for supplying liquid to said lavatory, said lavatory having an aperture therein, said common means including a spout having a shank thereon extending through said aperture and means for locking said spout to said lavatory, slots communicating with said aperture, extensions on said spout positioned in said slots, legs partially supporting said lavatory, means for selectively adjusting said legs, and means for supporting said legs in spaced relation from a wall.
