Description

Jan. 4,1949. A PIERCE 2,457,918
SOAP CONTAINER Filed March 22 1946 gin/um new": A. PIERCE,
Patented Jan. 4, 1949 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE SOAP CONTAINER Melvin A. Pierce, Waitsburg, Wash.
Application March 22, 1946, Serial No. 656,405
1 Claim.
My invention relates to containers and more particularly to containers toreceive and hold a bar of soap. i
The object of my invention is to provide a soap container formed by an open mesh bag, affording free circulation of air and thereby expediting the drying process of a bar of soap put into the container after use.
Another object of my invention is to provide a soap container formed by an open mesh bag which is easily removed and replaced.
A further object of my invention is to provide a soap container which is washable when soiled.
Other objects of my invention may appear in the following specification describing it with reference to the accompanying drawing illustrating a preferred embodiment thereof.
It is however, to be understood that my invention is not to be limited and restricted to the exact construction and combination of parts described in the specification and shown in the drawing but that such changes and modifications can be made, which fall within the scope of the claim appended hereto.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a soap container according to my invention.
Figure 2 is an exploded side view of the holder for the soap container shown in Figure 1, the base of the holder being shown in section.
Figure 3 is an exploded top view of the holder shown in Figure 2.
Referring now in detail to the drawing the soap container according to my invention consists of an open mesh bag i0, suspended on a wire holder II, which has a base l2. The open mesh bag I is knitted or crocheted from any desired and suitable material. It can be made in any desired color which should be fast to prevent fading.
The wire holder i0 is substantially circular and has preferably a diameter of 3 inches. The mesh bag is approximately 3 inches deep. The wire holder II is preferably made from stainless 2 steel to prevent rusting. It is open on one place and has there two straight fingers 13 extending parallel to each other and located in the same plane as the circular holder portion II.
The base I2 is preferably made from rubber and has a suction cup M on a body I5. Two metal sleeves l6 are embedded in the body l5 and are adapted to receive the fingers l3 therein. This base can be attached by means of the vacuum or suction cup wherever convenient.
When the mesh bag In is soiled and is to be removed for washing, the wire holder II is taken from the base l2 and the bag is slid from the wire.
To remove soap from bag, push up on bottom and pick up the soap bar.
Having described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
A soap container, including a resilient base member having a pair of aligned bores therein, flanged metallic sleeves seated in said bores, cup means for securing said base to a support, a wire hook having straight parallel fingers extending from its extremities and adapted for insertion to said sleeves, and a flexible open mesh bag adapted for threading on said hook and normally depending therefrom, inversion of said bag serving to eject the soap therefrom.
. MELVIN A. PIERCE.
