2 Claims.
The'present invention relates to new and useful improvements in bobby pin openers and has for its primary object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a device of this character comprising a unique construction whereby the legs or prongs of bobby pins may be expeditiously spread without danger of breaking the fingernails of the user.
Another very important object of the invention is to provide. a bobby pin opener of the aforementioned character which is adapted to be ex- 1 peditiously mounted for use on a suitable support.
Other objects of the invention are to provide a bobby pin opener of the character described which will be comparatively simple in construction,.strong, durable, highly emcient and reliable in use, compact, and which may be manufactured at a low cost.
\ All of the foregoing and still further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study of the xfollowing speciflcation, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein:
Figure l is an elevational view 'of a modified form of the device.
Figure 2 is a bottom plan of the modification,
Figure 3 is a perspective view, showing the modification in use.
In the preferred form of invention illustrated in Figures 5, 6 and 7 of the drawing, reference character 9 designates generally aclamp comprising a substantially U-shaped metallic frame I0. Oneend portion of the frame I constitutes a stationary jaw ll. of the frame It has formed therein a threaded opening in which a screw I 3 is mounted. Swivelly mounted on one end of the screw is is a movable jaw 14 which is cooperable with the stationary jaw ll. Formed integrally with the other end of the screw I3 is a longitudinal blade "which is substantially similar in construction to the blade I.
In use, the clamp 9 is adapted to be expedi tiously mounted one convenient support, such as a drawer N. This, of course, is accomplished by engaging the frame I. with the support and closing the law ll thereon, the blade ll function- The other end portion i2 The bobby pins are then slipped on the blade l and turned therearound for opening or spreading the legs of said bobby pins. a hobby pin opener constructed in accordance with the present invention will be readily understood and-although preferred embodiments of the device are as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that further modifications and changes in the details of construction may be resorted to which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is: 1. A bobby pin opener of the character described comprising an attaching member, a screw threaded through said attaching member, and a longitudinal blade integral with the other end of the screw and engageable between the legs of a go. bobby pin for spreading said legs when said bobby pin is turned about said blade, the blade including longitudinal marginal portions and a free end portion of substantially ovate section to facilitate slipping the bobby pin thereon.
2. A bobby pin opener comprising a clamp including a substantially U-shaped frame, a screw threadedly mounted in one leg portion of the frame, a jaw swivelly mounted on the end of said screw within the frame, and a longitudinal blade of substantially ovate section integral with the other end of the screw and engageable between the legs of a bobby 'pin for spreading said legs Thefolloyving references are of record in the ,ille of this patent:
