This invention relates to cots and more particularly to a knock-down cot for household pets.

This invention is designed to replace the various unsanitary and unsatisfactory expedients 5 heretofore resorted to in providing cots for household pets.

An object of my invention is to provide a cot of knock-down construction, which may be collapsed to occupy a minimum space for shipping purposes, and which may be easily assembled in a minimum time.

A further object of my invention is to provide a knock-down cot consisting of few and simple parts, which may be economically manufactured in large quantities by the use of simple tools and inexpensive materials, at such low cost that the cot may be distributed as a premium, the device lending itself admirably well for advertising purposes.

A further object of my invention is to provide a cot which is of highly sanitary construction and wherein the burlap or other sheet on which the household pet lies may be readily cleaned and replaced from time to time.

These and other advantageous objects, which will later appear, are accomplished by the simple and practical construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and exhibited in the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof, and in which:

Fig. 2 is a fragmentary plan view, partly in section, taken on lines 22 of Fig. 1, and showing 3 in detail the manner in which the end and side members of my improved cot are secured together, and

Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view of a modified form of my invention.

As shown in the drawing, my device comprises essentially a pair of end members I provided with recesses 2, and a pair of side members 3 provided with tongues 4, adapted to have holding engagement with the recesses 2. The members I 45 and 3 are made of Wood or may be made of any other suitable material.

The tongues 4 of the side members 3 are provided with apertures 5 through which rods 6 pass, said rods being also passed through the end 50 loops 1 of a sheet 8 of burlap or other suitable material. The rods 6 are provided with threaded ends 9 adapted to be threadedly engaged by threaded knobs Ill. The sheet 8 forms a. sort of hammock on which the animal may lie and the sheet may be removed for cleaning or replacement, from time totime. If desired, the sheet 8 may be provided with insect powder or disinfectant, which may be dusted into the sheet or a member I I containing the powder may be positioned in a pocket I2 (shown in dotted lines) secured to the sheet.

From the foregoing it will be seen that the side and end members are removably secured together in a simple, positive and efficient manner and may be readily disassembled to occupy a minimum space for shipment in compact form.

In the form of my invention shown in Fig. 3, the rods 6 are provided with rollers 21. An endless sheet- 28 of burlap or other suitable material passes around the rollers 21 and over the upper edges of the end members I. When the animal lies on the sheet 28, the sheet will bind over the upper edges of the end members i, thereby preventing the shifting of the sheet. The sheet 28 may be readily rotated on the rods 6 from time to time to present fresh surfaces, increasing the sanitary features of the device.

The device can be made at such low cost that it may be distributed as an advertising premium, with the advertisement prominently displayed on the side and end members.

The foregoing disclosure is to be regarded as descriptive and illustrative only, and not as restrictive or limitative of the invention of which obviously an embodiment may be constructed, including many modifications, without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

l. A cot comprising a pair of end members provided with recesses, a pair of side members provided with tongues adapted to have holding engagement with said recesses, rods passing through the tongues of said side members, rollers carried by said rods, means removably secured to the end of said rods and engaging said tongues for removably securing saidv members together, and an endless sheet passing around said rollers and over said end members.

2. In a cot, a pair of end members provided with recesses, a pair of side members provided with tongues adapted to have holding engagement with said recesses, rods passing through the tongues of said sid members, rollers carried by said rods, means removably secured to the ends of said rods and engaging said tongues for removably securing said members together, and a til sheet having portions thereof passing around said rollers and over said end members.

3. In a cot, a pair of end members provided with recesses, a pair of side members provided with tongues adapted to have holding engagement with said recesses, rods passing through the tongues of said side members, means removably secured to the ends of said. rods and engaging said tongues for securing said members together, and an endless sheet passing around said rods and over said end members.
