This invention relates in general to broilers in fluid fuel burning stoves and has more particular reference .to a broiler drawer construction for such stoves wherein means are 8 provided for adjustably varying the distance between the broiler pan and/or the product being cooked and the flame.
The invention has for a principal object the provision of raising and lowering means for 19 the broiler pan which may be operated from the outside of the broiler oven or broiler oven drawer and without pulling the drawer (if one be provided) from its position in the broiler oven, the parts being so constructed and arranged that the broiler pan is lifted and lowered vertically and without any of the arts scraping upon the side walls as an inci ent to the movement of the pan.
Another important object of the invention m is the provision of an accurate and effective counterbalancing device for sustaining the pan in adjusted positions.
Numerous other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent as it is better understood from the following description, which, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, discloses a preferred embodiment thereof.
Referring to the drawings:

Figs. 3 and 4 are transverse sections taken vertically across the drawer and disclosing the movement of one of the pan supporting members in adj ustin the height of the pan.
For the purpose illustrating our present invention, we have shown on the drawings a stove comprisin a supporting frame 11, a burner top 12, a aking oven 13, and-a broiler compartment or oven 14 into which a drawer 15 may be moved.
. The drawer 15 is constructed of metal and has a front wall 16 adapted to close the opening into the compartment 14 when the drawer is pushed into cooking position. The bottom 17, side walls 18 and the back wall 19 are all rigidly connected together, as may be seen in Fig. 2. Two rods 21 and 22 are arran ed upon the bottom 17 and have bearing pre erably in flanges 23 at the base of the front and back walls. Each rod 21, 22 is provided at each end with an arm 24 fixed at 25 to the rod. A link 26 connects the upper ends of the two arms at the back and a similar link 27 connects the upper or free ends of the two arms at the front of the drawer. The rod 21 extends through the drawerfront and is provided with a hand lever 23 having a locking pawl 29 adapted to engage locking teeth 31 formed on the drawer front.
Two pan supporting members 32 are provided, one arranged at the back and the other at the front of the drawer. In each of these pan supporting members slots 33 are formed to receive pins 34' which connect the arms 24 with the link 26.
A compensating link or member 35 is pivoted at 36 to the rear pan supporting member 32 and at 37 to the lefthand arm 24 at the back. A similar link 38 is similarly arranged at the front of the drawer. The links 35 and 38 are dimensioned and located to hold the movement of the pan sup orting members to a straight vertical line in t e raising and lowering, the pins 34 sliding in the slots 33 in the movement. A counterbalanc ing spring 39 is secured at one end at 41 to the rear wall 19 of the drawer and at the other end to the pivot pin 37 and serves to counterbalance the weight of the pan and the product being cooked.
It will be apparent from comparison of Figs. 3 and 4 that each pan carrying member 32 moves straight up and down vertically and without arcuate movement as the arms swing from one position to another. I
Suitable rollers 42 may be provlded from rearwardly extending arms 43 for enga ement in trackways 44 provided at the si es of the compartment 14 and rollers 45 may be located within the compartment to support the drawer in its movement.

ment of the parts without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention or sacrificing all of its material advantages, the form I hereiniiefore described being merely a preferred embodiment thereof.
We claim: 1. In a broiler, 22 pan supporting member, a pair of arcuetely swinging arms swinging in the same direction and having pin and slot w connection to said pen supporting member and adapted to raise and lower the same, and a compensating device associated with said arms for confining the movement of said nan supporting member to a straight vertical line.

A broiler drawer, comprising a pan supporting member. a pair of ercnately swinging arms swinging in the same direction and having pin and slot connection to said pan sup- 7 porting member and adapted to raise and lower the same, and a comnensatingdevice associated with said arms for confining the movement of said pan supporting member to a straight vertical line.
3. A broiler drawer, comprising a pair of 35 arcuately swinging arms swinging in the same direction and e pan supporting memher having sliding connection tocsaid arms. and a compensating link pivotally connected at its end respectively to said pan supporting $0 member and to a said arm.
