Description

April 7, 1931.
E. REYNOLDS COMBINED BRACKET AND TOWEL BAR FIXTURE Filed May 7, 1930 elm mm its preferred Patented Apr. 7, 1931 UNITED STATES EDWIN REYNOLDS, OF VINELAND, NEW JERSEY COMBINED BRACKET AND Towmi aemwaa Application'filed May 7, 1930. Serial 1%... 450,446.
The present invention has reference to improvements in brackets for towel bars, towel holders and the like, and relates more particularly to a novel construction of the towel bar brackets.
One object of my invention is the provision of a one-piece reversible towel bar bracket with a nonslip towel holder combined. And another object of my invention is the provision of a towel bar bracket with a nonslip towel holder adapted to keep the towel from slipping off the towel bar.
And a further object of my invention is the provision of such a combined bracket and towel holder, which could be formed from a single piece of resilient sheet metal, that would be simple, practical and substantial and cheap to manufacture.
lVith these objects in view my invention.
consists in the construction, arrangement, and cooperation of the parts as will now be described in detail in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which :Fig. 1 is a plan view of my new combined reversible bracket with nonslip towel holder, before being formed into shape.
Fig. 2 is a view of the combined reversible towel bar bracket with the nonslip towel holder after being formed into shape, as it 5- would appear complete ready for use.
Fig. .3 is a perspective view from the front, of my new combined reversible bracket with nonslip towel holder, for towel bars adjusted to position.
Fig. 4 is a view vof my new nonslip towel holder on a modified form of'bracket.
The invention is shown in the accompanying drawings and what is now believed to be form, in which Fig- 1, consists of a resilient sheet metal blank 6, of Tshaped formation, havin apertures 7, 7, towards its extreme rectangu ar ends, the saidbodymemher 6, having formed from its one side edge, at its longitudinal center an extended rectangular shaped body member 8, and at right angles from the body member 6, the said body member 8 having its extreme end U shaped, the said extreme end of the body 8, is slightly curved. upwards towards itself from the 1 plane of its body at 9, to form an extended rectangular resilient body member 8, 9, of Fig. 1 and being integral with the body member 6. The said resilient sheet metal blank 6 of Fig. 1, is then bent and curved upon itself from its central section 10, Fig. 1, andupon lines 11, 11, to form a semicircular head 12, of F ig., 2, with the extended rectangular shaped body member 8, 9,- of Fig. 1, extending at right angles to the semicircular head 12 and in the same plane as shown in Figs. 2, 8, 9, to form a resilient rectangular shaped no slip towel holder member 8, the said member 8 having its extreme end U shaped to remove the danger of damage to the towel when inserting under the holder, and the said resil ien't member, 8, having its extreme outer end section 9 of Fig 2,, curved up and away from the plane of its b0dy 8, to facilitate the insertion and removal of the towels edges or sides, the said nonslip towel holder 8, by 70 means of its resilienc'yis adaptedto exert force upon the said towel 19, of Fig. 3, when inserted between the towelgbar 16, and the nonslip "towelholder 8, 9, as shown'in Fig.
5,tending to" draw and bind them together 75 and-securely hold the said towel from slipping oif the bar 16; The said bracket head supporting, members 13, 18, are bent on dotted lines 21, 21, to form attaching plates or means 14,1 l, of Fig. 2.. The said rectangular resilient body member 8, the nonslip towel holder of Fig. 2 is positioned equidistant from the uppermost' and lowermost part of thebracket head 12, as shown on' line' dotted 15 of Fig. 2, so it would cooperate mid-center of'the front face of a towel bar-16, as shown at 17,1Z,Fign3,i t will be apparent that when thenonslip towel holder is positioned on a line mid-center of the bracket head 12, and co-operateswith the mid-center of a towel bar, as sho'wn'ondotted line 15, Fig.2, and front 'of towel bar '16, at 17, 17, F igi 3,*the bracket and nonslip towel holder would be reversible, and could be used for a right or left side, and the nonslip towel holder would cooperate always at the front mid-center of thetowel bar as shown, regardless of which side the towel bar is mounted on, as shown in Fig.- 3, and the said nonslip towel holders would lie in a parallel 190 position with the towel bar and in proximity thereof and Within the same plane as the bracket holding head 12.
It will now be apparent that when a pair of the reversible brackets with their nonslip towel holders are identical and exactly alike and mounted to a support by their attaching plates, 14, 14, with screws orv nails through the apertures 7, 7, of Figs. 2, 3, and the towel bar 16 is within the bracket heads 12, of Fig. 3 on each side or endiofi the towel'bar I6, and the nonslip towel holders being in proximity with the towel bar at 18-, 18, Fig. 3, a towel- 19 may be hung on the bar 16 and its side edges may be inserted easy under the raised ends 9, at 20, 20, of Fig. 3, and under the resilient towel holders 8, 8, it will be securely held upon the said bar 16, by the exerting forces-of the resilient nonslip towel holders 8, 8, and a towel 19 may be inserted under the holders or removed at will.
It will now be apparent that my objects have been attained, and that a practical, efiicient, substantial reversible bracket for towel bars with nonslip towel holder have been provided, that would be simple, and cheap to manufacture.
Although I have shown in Figs. 1, 2, 3, 4. the preferred form of my invention by way of example, I want it particularly understood that I do not limit myself to this shape bracket and nonslip towel holders, but reserve unto myself the right to, vary the shape and arrangement within, what is disclosed and what is claimed, without departing from the spirit, of the invention.
hat- I claim is 1. A combination bracket and towel bar fixture of the character set forth, comprising a one-piece element bent from a stamped strip of sheet stock doubled over intermedi: ate its ends, presenting two shank members extending in the same Vertical plane in spaced opposition, and a substantially closed annular bar-receiving connecting body portion; a clamping tongue integrally unilaterally extendingfrom said body annulus substantially in the horizontal plane thereof, and the perforated free ends of said shank members bent off to formv attachment feet.
2. A combination bracket and towel bar fixture of the character set forth, comprising a one-piece element bent from a stamped strip of sheet material doubled over intermediate its ends, presenting two shank members and a substantially annular bar-receiv ing body portion, and a clamping tongue integrally laterally extending from said body annulushaving its free end slightly outwardly curved to allow of ready sliding engagement with the object tobe clamped.
