BATH SPRAY APPARATUS.
Application led Jnue 7,
My invention relates to shower bath sprays and an object of the invention is to provide a shower bath spray which is adjustable vertically to suit the convenience of the person using the same.
Further the invention provides a bath y spray attachment arranged to be detachably supported from a shower bath curtain.
lith the preceding and other objects and advantages in mind7 the invention consists in the novel combination of elements, constructions and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter specifically referred to, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 isa vertical sectional view of a. bath apparatus with my invention associated with the shower bath curtain thereof, Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view of the spray attachment and curtain,
Figure 3 is a horizontal sectional view on line 3-3 of Figure 2,
Figure l is a similar view taken on line 4 -4 of Figure 2,
Figure 5 is a top plan view,
Figure 6 is a longitudinal sectional view of a modification of the invention, and
Figure 7 is a transverse section taken on line 7-7 of Figure 6.
Referring to the invention in detail a longitudinally bowed horizontally arranged bar 5 is secured upon the inner :tace of a shower bath curtain 6, intermediate the ends of the latter, by means of a transverse rivet 35l or other suitable fastening 7.
For the purpose of holding a bath spray 8 for vertical adjustment along the curtain 6, a laterally disposed resilient U- shaped clamp 9 is attached to the bar 5 io centrally of its ends by means of the fastening 7. The extremities 10 of the clamp are disposed in divergent relation to facilitate engagement and disengagement of the spray 8 from the clamp.
The spray 8 comprises a cylinder or tube 11 having its upper end closed by a cap 12 threadedly received thereon and having a lower open threaded end 13. A plurality of water compartments in the form of cyl- 50 inders 14 of a greater' diameter than the 192s. yserial no. 283,599.
cylinder 'l1 are receivedthereon andhave inwardly directed annular flanges 15 ratr the ends thereof which hugthe cylinder.y The iia'nges ofthe opposed end of the cylinders j 11i receive packing elements 21 therebetween to provide liquid tight j o'ints.`r The annular flange of the uppermost cylinder is opposed to the lower edge of the cap 12, while the lower annularlange of the lowermost cylinj der is opposed to a retaining nut 16 threaded upon the' threaded end 13 of the cylinder 11. Each ot the cylinders 14 is provided with longitudinally alined outlet or spray openings 17 through which water from these cylinders is discharged. In ordery to conduct water from theL cylinder 11 tothe water compartments,y the cylinder isvprovided with ajplurality of vertically 4alined graduated outlet openings 18. illustrated inr Figv ure 2, one of these outlet openings is provided for each water compartment and yis located in transverse alinement with the opening 17. By the rprovisionjof the grad-i uated openingsllS the force of the spray from each ofthe compartments will be equali" ized. In other wordsyif these outlet openings were of the same size, the force 'of the water vtrom thelower compartmentswould be relatively great, while the force of the water from the other compartments kwould be negligible.
To supply water to the cylinder 11. a yhose or flexible conduit y19Whavingy one end rejceived `on the open end 13 of the` cylinder and its yopposite end communicating with a faucet 19, is provided. j y
To guide thespray 8in its vertical adjustmentin the clamp, ya guide loop laiscarried by the cap 12 at a point diametrically opposite the outlet openings and is slidably received `on a guide tape 22 eXtending'vertically oi the cover with its lowerendinterposed betweeny the clamp y9 and bar 5,r and anchored tothe fastening 7. The tape yis spacedlfroi'n the curtain and extends a slight distance above the spray and is provided with a button opening 23 for engagement with ra laterally kprojecting button 211 carried by the curtain. n
V'Vithy they spray thus held by the clamp and guide tape the spray will be guided in a true vertical direction while it is being adjusted. Should it be desired to detach the spray vfrom the Curtain, it is only necessary to detach the upper end of the guide tape from the button to permit the Vloop to be slipped therefrom.
In the modiiication disclosed in Figures 6 and 7 the water .compartments are in the form of transversely bowed perforated plates 25 which are arranged in longitudi-l nal alinement on the cylinder 1l and each of which overlies one of the outlet openings 18. These plates 25 are formed with marginal flanges 26 along their edgesand ends, which extend towards the cylinder and are welded or otherwise secured thereto. In this form ofy the invention the lower or open end of the cylinder receives one end of the hose and is provided" with a lateral bead 27 for holding the hose thereon.
fWhat is claimed is Yl. In a bath apparatus, a flexible curtain, a rigid elementy attached thereto intermediate its ends, a resilient clamp projecting laterally therefrom, and a perforated conduit supportedfor vertical adjustment in ythe clamp, anda slidable connection between the conduit andv curtain.
2. In a bath apparatus, a flexible curtain,
' a rigid element attached thereto intermediate its ends, a resilient clamp projecting laterally therefrom, a perforatedy conduit supported for verticaladjustment in the clamp, a tape attached to the curtain and extending parallell to the conduit, and a loop carried by the conduit and slidable on the tape.
3. In 'a bath apparatus, a split yresilient clamp' for attachment to a verticalsupport, and a bat-h sprayvertically adjustable in the clamp, and means forslidably yconnecting` one end of the', bath spray to the vertical support. f k
' 4. A bath apparatus, a bath curtain, a resilient clamp projecting laterally therefrom, a perforated conduit supported for vertical adjustment in the clamp and detachable therefrom, a guide extending vertically along the curtain above the clamp,
and loop, carried by the conduit and slidable on the guide. l
5. In axbath spray, a spray conduit having' one end closed and provided with a plurality ot outlet openings, perforated cylinders received on the conduit with their walls spaced from the latter and their ends closed to aord separate water pressure compartments along the lengthv of the conduit, and threaded elements received on the ends of the conduit for; holding the cylinders thereon. f
