One of the important objects of the-present'invention is to provide an oil burner that includes a longitudinally v movable air pipe that is arranged within a f uelpipe, the outer end of the air pipe forming a` needlevalvefor cooperation withv the discharge opening of the spray nozzle assoelated with the outer end of the fuel'plpe, means vbclng arranged Within the spray nozzle of the fuel pipe forV effecting a whirling action of the fuel.
A still further object of the inventiongis* to provide anvoilburner of the above inen-v tloned character that 1s snnple 1n construc-` tion, mexpens1ve,jstrong and -durable and further well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.

In the accompanying drawing wherein like y' reference characters indicate 'corresponding parts throughout the same: i Figure 1 .is a longitudinal sectional View through the oil pipe and the spray nozzle arf ranged on the outer end thereof, the air pipe being shown in elevation and Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view taken. substantially upon thev line 2-2 of Figure -1.` In the drawing wherein for the purpose ofillustration is shown the preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 1 designates a tubular head that is internally threaded at its respective ends. A pair of `diametrically opposed nipples 2 and 3 'extend laterally from the intermediate portion of the tubular head 1. Anoil or gas supply pipe is 'adapted for connection with the inlet nipple 2 while a plug 4 is threaded in the other nipple in the manner as clearly shown in Figure 1.
A closure is provided for the outer end of the tubular head 1 and the same comprises a relatively short pipe section 5 that is threaded externally at its respective ends, the inner end thereof being threaded in the outer internally threaded end o f the head 1. A cap properly atomizcd at*A its 6 is threaded on the outer end of the pipe sec` tionl 5 and a suitable packing washer 7 is interposed between theouter end of the pipe section 5 and the cap G in the manner as also clearly shown in Figure 1.

furthermore the outer casing section l1 is threaded on the inner casing section 10, the rear side of the casing section 10 is formed with an enlarged'circular opening and extending from the lrear side of the inner sect-ion` 10 around the opening is the internally `threaded collar 12 that has threaded engage- -ment with the forward end of the fuel pipe 8.
o f, The outereor front side of the casing see tion l11 is formedcentrally with a fuel discharge opening 13 and the outer edge portion of this opening or orifice is beveled as illustrated at 14 also in Figure 1.
Adapted for vertical disposition within the spray nozzle unit'9 is the circular dise 15,`the same being formed at its front face with'the forwardly extending lugs 16 that space the disc with respect to the front side of the outer casing section 11, the rear face of the disc being adapted to abut against the forward edge of the inner circular casing section 10 in the manner as clearly illustrated in Figure 1.
The circular disc 15 is formed with an annular series of fuel emitting openings or apertures 17 and the same are arranged at an angle of approximately 45 whereby to effect a whirling action of the fuel as the same is Y discharged through the openings in the disc' into the forward end portion of the spray nozzle 9. The disc is further formed with an enlarged central threaded opening 18, the purpose of which will be presently apparent.
Also forming a salient part of the present .invention is the air pipe 19 that is of a smallextends through the cap 6 and is adapted to receive air under pressure from any suitable source. A hand wheel 2O is arranged on `the rear end portion of the air pipe 19 for the purpose of actuating the same to adjust the 5 Vair pipe. i The forward end of the air pipelt) vterininates in the tapered discharge nozzle 21 that extends .through the fuel discharge open-s tudinally adjusted position so 'that the tapered discharge nozzle :21 may be regulated with respect to the fuel discharge opening 13 for obvious purposes. y

` foregoing description, it will be readily observed that air under pressure will he mixed with oil as the saine is discharged through the' opening 13 thus enabling the oil to be thoroughly atomized at its point of ignition.
i Furthermore, the disposition of the fuel discharge openings 17 in the dise 15 will result in the fuel being subjected to a whirling action before being discharged through the opening 13 and will also tend to cool the spray nozzle unit 9.
A burner of the above mentioned character can be used for various purposes and thesanie will at all times be positive and eiiieient in its operation.
