Another object of my invention iS to pro vide a manually controlled valve for supplying gas to the reservoir and simultane onsly supplying an auxiliary flow of gras to the, torch, which torch is also constantly supplied With gas through the valve casing from a header or main pipe.
With the above and other minor objects in View the invention coneists in certain peculiarities of construction and Combination oit' parte as hereinafter set forth with reference to the accfmipanying illustrations and subsequently claimed.

whereby gas is checked from flowing into' tion of the head is sealed by an overhanging cap 17 and the bottom portion of said head is closed by a conical metal plug 18, which plug' constitutes a deflector. rlhe circular walls of the head are provided with radially disposed tiring vents 19, which vents correspond in l 'number to the burners grouped about the igniter, the vents beingso aliued as to cause a. jet llame to be discharged upon each burner ol the group when the valve u'mchaixism is operated.
The torch-tube 9, after passing through the l1ead,`is bent dowinvardly and its end is uplurned to form a. torch-tip 9, which tip centrally disposed with relation to the conical plug' 18. The torch-tip is protected by an open ended shield 20, which shield is suspended from the burner head by arms` 20 that are crimped or otherwise made last to the plug 1S. Thus currents of air are permitted to pass upwardly through the shield and are deflected outwardly from the upper end of said shield by the conical plug, whereby vertical stratus of air are maintained about the torch at all times and said torch isthereby guarded against transverse currents which would tend to eX- ting'uish the saine.
From the foregoing description it is apparent that a constant pilot light is inlin-y tained under the reservoir and to ignite any one or all of the stove burners the oper'- ator depresses the button l5, whereby the valve member will recede from its neat a ud establish communication between the gras main and gas cavity 6 of the plug `shell. The iull flow of gas from the main will thus be admitted to the gas reservoir 16 and simultaneously an auxiliary supply of gas will be delivered to the torch-tip 9@ whereby the said torch is flared to envelopthe firing ventsof the gas reservoir, causing-ignition of said gas, whereby a series of jet flames are emitted from the head directly upon all ot' the burners grouped about the igniter. Then pressure is removed from the button .15 the supply of gras to the reservoir 16 is immediately cut oil' and the constantly burning torch is reduced to a small flame.
I claim:
l. In an igniter for stove burners coinprisiug a Vented reservoir, a fecdpipe therefor, and a torch-tube having its tip disposed under the reservoir; the combination of means for supplying a constant flow of gas to the torch-tube, and valve-controlled means` for simultaneously supplying an increased flow of gas to said torch-tube and a full supply to the reservoir.
2.` An igniter 'For stove burners comprising a vented reservoir, a feed-pipe therefor, a torch-tube having itsl tip juxtaposing the reservoir, a valve-casing having a channel in communication with the reservoir feedpipe and a main supply duct in communication with the torch-tube, the main supply duct being' provided with a by-pass duct, a Valve for controlling the reservoir supply lpipe channel and torch-tube, and means for supplying` a constant flow of gas to the by -pass duct when the valve is closed.
