A window construction comprising a frame formed with a guide and an outer stop, a sash movable along the guide, a rack extending along the guide and the stop, sash holding mechanism including means coat-ting with the rack to hold the sash from movement and force the sash toward the outer stop and means for forcing the sash away from the outer stop when the sash holding means is released, said means also coacting with the sill to start the sash away from the sill.

A window construction comprising a frame formed with a guide and an outer stop, a sash movable along the guide, a rack extending along the guide and the stop. sash holding mechanism including means coacting with the rack to hold the sash from movement and force the sash toward the outer stop and means for forcing the sash away from the outer stop when the sash holding means is released, said means also coacting with the sill to start the sash away from the sill and comprising a pusher coacting with the sill and inclined upwardly out of the vertical away from the stop and the adjacent edge of the sash.
