Description
NTTED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
SYLVESTEB. W. SHELDON, 0F NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN BLUING-CASES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 162,860, dated May 4, 1875 fapplication tiled December 28, 1874.
- spondin g parts.
A is the case, which contains the bluing in the cavity C. D is the bottom part, made to simply admit the case, as seen in the drawing. The case extends to the bottom of D, and is made tapering from the shoulder E. F is a hole in the top of the case, through which the bluing is discharged. When the packages are being transported or stored away, this hole may be covered with paper, which paper, G, is perforated when the bluing is used.
When itis desired to use the bluing in a liquid state, a sufiicient quantity of Water is placed in a bottle, and the case containing the bluing-powderis placed as a stopper in the bottle. The bluing drops by its own gravity into the Water, and the liquid is discharged through the orifice F, as occasion may require.
When the case is used in this manner, (as a stopper,) it remains in the bottle until the bluing is exhausted. The case is therefore adapted for using the bluing in either a dry or liquid state, according to the desire of the laundress.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As a new article of manufacture, the bluingcase lmade in two parts, A and D, the upper part A being externally, and the lower part D being internally, tapered, to t one within the other, the upper part provided with cavity C for holding the bluin g and the discharge opening F, with covering-plate G, all as speciiied.
SYLVESTER W. SHELDON.
