In practice, when the container is filled with water it is arranged with its extension in the manner illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, in which position the offsetextremity 24 of the latch element is received by the notches 17, and held positioned therein to prevent rotation of the container, by means of the movable limb 29 of the resilient element, which is arranged in the hook-like portion 25 of the latch element, such an arrangement being clearly illustrated by full lines in Figure 2. hen it is necessary to. refill the container with water, the thumb is arranged against the extension 26, and the finger engaged against the movable limb 29 of the resilient element, and by pushing on the latter it can be conveniently removed from the hook-like portion, during which operation the limb 28 turns within its bearings 27 as will be readily understood. While it is believed that from the fore going description, the nature and advan tages of the invention will be readily apparent, I desire to have it understood, that I do not limit myself to what is herein shown and described and that such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scope of what is claimed.
What is claimed is:
1. In a device of the character described, a trough, a water container mounted thereon for rotation, and including an outlet exten- After the container has sion projecting centrally from the container, a sliding latch element supported 011 one end of the trough and adapted to engage the container to hold the latter against rotation, and resilient means supported on the same end of the trough and adapted to engage the latch element to maintain the latter immovable in its; active position.
2. The combination with a trough including end walls, and a water container journaled on said walls and having an utlet extension, of a latch element supported on one of the end walls and including an offset extension adapted to be received by a notch formed in said container, means for support ing the latch element for both sliding and turning movements, and resilient means supported on the same end wall of the trough and adapted to engage the latch element to hold it in its active position.
3. The combination with a trough havin end walls, and a water container journaleil on said walls and having spaced notches at one end thereof, and an outlet extension, of a latch element including an oii'set extremity adapted to be received by either of said notches to hold the container against rotation in either of two positions, means for supporting the latch element on one of said end walls for both turning and sliding movements, a hook-like extremity formed at the other end of said element, and resilient means mounted on the same end wall and cooperating with the hook-like portion to hold the latch element immovable in its active position.
4:. The combination with a trough and a water container j ournaled thereon, and hav ing diametrically opposed notches at one end thereof, of a latch element supported on one end of the trough for both sliding and turning movements, said element including an offset extremity adapted to be received by either notch to hold the container against movement in either of two positions, a hooklike extremity formed at the other end of said element, a resilient element including a limb journaled on the same end of the trough, and a resilient limb adapted to be received by the hook-like extremity of the latch element to hold the latter actively engaged with the container for the purpose specified.
