' S. TURIGA NBGKTIE Filed Ila-rah 10. 1925 jvwmtow Patented Nov. 17, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
STEPHEN TURIG-A, F BEACON, NEW YORK.
Application filed March 10, 1925. Serial No. 1,4,513.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, STEPHEN TURIGA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Beacon, in the county of Dutchess and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Necktie, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to a necktie or scarf and has for its principal object to provide a structure which will hide the collar button, form a background for the tie or scarf, and be attractive in appearance.
Another important object of the invention is to provide a necktie or scarf of this nature which is simple in construction and will prove durable and strong in use, and one which may be manufactured at a low cost so as to be placed upon themarket at a profit.
With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, th invention resides in certain novel features of construction, in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawing I Figure 1 is a perspective View of the necktie embodying the features of my invention.
Fig. 2 is a rear elevation thereof, and Fig. 3 is a plan view of the frame thereof. Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that 1 designates the supporting band which may be of elastic material or the like if desired, 2 represents the scarf or necktie which may be of the bow or four-in-hand type. and 3 my improved guard.
This guard 3 includes an isosceles right triangular shaped frame 4 which may be constructed of suitable light material such as celluloid and is covered by material similar to that from which the tie or scarf is formed. The knot portion of the tie is attached to the cover of the frame 4 at the center of its hypothenuse side and the band 1 is attached at one end to one end of this hypothenuse side of the guard While the other end thereof carries a loop 6 which may be engaged by a hook 7 carried at the free end of the band 1.
From the above description it will be seen that when th tie is Worn the guard 3 will hide the collar button and will form an attractive background for the tie. This guard may be constructed of material different in color from the tie if this should be desired, or it may be of the same color therewith.
It will be seen that the tie constructed in accordance with this invention will .be at tractive in appearance and will set off the tie to the best advantage. The device is simple and yet may be made strong and 60 durable at a relatively low cost.
The present embodiment of the invention which I have described in detail is merely given by Way of example and it is apparent that numerous changes in the details of construction, in the materials, in the size, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is A necktie of the class described including in combination an isosceles right triangular shaped frame covered with fabric material, a scarf having its knot secured to the frame at the center of its hypothenuse side. and a band attached to one end of the hypothenuse side of the frame and having its free end provided with means for detachably engaging the other end of the hypothenuse side of the frame.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
STEPHEN TURIGA.
