Description
A. BLOOM SKID Filnd June 4. 1923 Patented Oct. 27, 1925.
ALBIN BLOOM, OF MILES CITY, MONTANA.
SKID.
Application' led J'une 4,
To all wlw/ni t may concer/1i.
Be it known that I, ALBIN BLooM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Miles City, in the county of Custer and State of 6 Montana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Skids, of which the following is a specification.
The principal object of this invention is to provide means for preventing a skid from slipping while being used.
This invention also consists in certain other features of constructiony and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and speciiically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing .my invention in detail, refei'ence will be had to the accompanying 20 drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding` parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure l is a side view showing a skid in use and provided with my invention..
Figure 2 is a plan view.
Figures 3 and 4 are detail views of one of the channel irons.
Figures 5 and 6 are detail views of one of the hooks.
In these views l indicates the skid and 2 a deck with which the skid is to be used in placing barrels and the like upon the deck or removing them therefrom. In order to connect the skid with the deck I provideliooks 3 which are pivoted to channel shaped members et which are in turn pivoted to the upper end of the side pieces of the skid, as shown at 5. Y The web 4 of each member is cut away at its ends so that the member can be swung on its pivot and the projecting part 3 of each hook is grasped by the hands in freeing the hooks from the deck. Each 1923. Serial No. 643,419.
member is provided with a pair of holes 'G so that the pivot of the hook can be placed in either one of the holes for adjusting the hooks in accordance with the deck upon which they are being used.
As will be understood the hooks engage the door plate or other part of the deck and will thus prevent detachment of the. skid from the deck. The parts are self-adjusting so that the skid can be placed in position very quickly.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features f of my invention will be readilyapparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim` is:
l. In combination with a skid, including a pair of side members, a channeled meinber pivoted to the upper end oil each side member and having its bight forming a continuation of the side member and a hook pivoted in each channeled member under the bight for engaging a part of a support against which the skid is placed. n
2. In combination with a skid including i a pair of side members, a channel member pivoted to the upper end of each side member, the bight of the channel member being of less length than the side members thereof,
a hook pivoted in each channel member and having` a hand engaging part projecting beyond the bight of the channel member, each channel member having several holes therein for receiving the pivot of the hook so that the hook can be adjusted in the channel member.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
ALBIN BLooM.
