SHOE ATTACHMENT.
Application filed April 7,
This invention relates to shoe attachments primarily applicable upon the sole therefor to provide a gripping or traction surface to enable persons to freely walk upon ice and 6 slippery pavements.
With the above and other objects in View, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, il-
lustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a side elevation, with the present invention applied thereto.
Figure 2 is a bottom plan View of the shoe illustrating the arrangement of the illvention.
Referring to the drawings in detail wherein like characters of reference denote cor- 21} responding parts, the reference character 10 indicates the conventional form of shoe having an elastic band 11 fitted upon the outer surface of the heel l2. Extending across the vamp of the shoe is an adjustable strap having rings 14 secured to its opposite ends and positioned adjacent the opposite side edges of the shoe sole for securing the opposite ends of chain lengths 15 thereto which in turn have their opposite ends secured to a corresponding ring 16, in the manner as illustrated in Figure 2 of the drawings. ,A relatively long chain length 17 having its respective end portions secured to the ring 16 and an additional ring 18 slidingly mounted upon the elastic band 11 in ad Vance of the heel 12. Diagonally disposed chain lengths 19 have their respective ends secured at appropriate portions in the lengths of the chains 15 and 17 respectively whereby a person having the present invention applied to the shoes will not slip sidewise nor forwardly owing to the rela- I 1926. Serial No. 100,387.
tive arrangement of the respective chain lengths.
The invention, owing to the simplicity in construction thereof may be manufactured in great numbers and sold at a very nominal cost and hence be afforded by all persons having use for a device of the character described.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described the invention what is claimed is An attachment for use upon and in conjunction with shoes comprising an elastic band fitted upon the heel therefor, an adjustable strap extending across the shoe vamp and having rings fitted Within its opposite ends and positioned ad'acent the side edges of the shoe sole, relative y short transversely disposed chain lengths having their outer ends secured to the rings and their corresponding inner meeting ends correspondingly associated with an auxiliary ring upon the sole of the shoe, a longitudi- 7 nally disposed chain having its forward end connected with the auxiliary ring and its remaining end connected with the ring slidingly mounted upon an appropriate portion of the elastic band inslight spaced relation with respect to the forward side of the shoe heel, and diagonally disposed chain lengths having their respective ends connected to appropriate portions in the lengths of the aforementioned chains to prevent lateral sliding movement.
In testimony whereof I afix my signature.
