Description

T. TANAKA MILK BOTTLE CAP Filed June 20. 1924 Patented UNITED STA'IES iesasis TOT/[BAY TANAKA, F SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA.
MILKeBOTTLE CAP.
Application led June 20, 1924. Serial No. 721,233.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, TOMBAY TANAKA, citizen of Japan, residing at Sacramento, in the county of Sacramento and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Milk-Bottle Caps, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to bottle closures, and particularly to paper-cap closures for milk bottles. The object of the invention is to provide in combination with a milk bottle cap, a simple and cheaply constructed device which will enable the cap to be easily removed without likelihood of injury thereto.
Referring to the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a top plan view of a bottle cap having my invention applied thereto, and Figures 2 and 3 are sections taken on the lines 2-2 and 3 3 of Figure 1.
In the drawings, the numeral 1() designates a paper cap such as is ordinarily used for closing milk bottles, except that it is not provided with the usual finger-hold tab,
and is formed with a central aperture 11. .Passing through the aperture 11 is a flexible member, or string, 12, which has a bight 13, engaging an edge of the disk. The end portions of this string are folded around the diametrically opposite edge of the disk at 111-, and are brought over the disk and termina-te at a point well beyond aperture 11:. In order to secure the end portions of the string, and to seal the aperture, I provide a relatively small disk 15, of paper or similar material pasted-over the aperture and over the end portions of the string, the free ends ofthe string projecting from this disk, to provide a finger-hold for removing the cap. 40
The device obviously provides a very simple and convenient means for removing from a milk bottle its paper cap Without danger of tearing or otherwise injuring the cap.
`rlaving particularly described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
In combination with a disk closure for milk bottles and the like provided with a central aperture a string passing through said Vpei-ture and having a central bight engaging an edge of the disk and having its end portions folded around the opposite edge and extending over the disk substantially beyond said aperture, and a relatively small disk of paper pasted over said aperture and over said end of portions with the free ends of the string projecting therefrom. G0
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature,
,ToMBAY TANAK/A.
