Abstract

283,050. Powell, M. W. May 23, 1927. Disc closures for bottles comprise a tab 3 integral with the. disc 1 and a row of thread stitching 4 extending across the disc in alignment with the base of the tab. The disc comprises several laminations of material one of which is cut through to form a lifting tab when the cut portion is raised. The base of the tab is unscored and the thread stitching resists the tearing of the tab from the strip. A depression 8 may be formed in the disc at the free end of the tab to facilitate raising it and weakened circular portions may be formed in it through which a straw or tube may be forced and the contents withdrawn without removing the disc.
