w. H. LAUTZENHEISER ai I.
Filed Dec.
Patented Dec. 16, 1924.
PATENT QFEHE.
WILLIAM H. LAUTZENHEISER, F LOUISVILLE, OHIO.
GAME.
Application filed December 24, 1923.
To all whom. it may concern: v
Be it known that 1. WILLIAM H. LAUTZEN- Hmsnn. a citizen of the United States, residing at Louisville. in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Games, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to games and more particularly to a game especially adapted to afford amusement to small children.
The object of the invention is to provide a game comprising a block of wood or the like having a plurality of passages extending longitudinally from one end of the block to a point near the other end terminating in angular portions extending out through different sides of the block.
The game is played by tilting the block at an angle and placing marbles or similar spherical. objects in the angular portions of the different passages and permitting the same to roll by gravity through the passages and out of the lower open ends thereof.
An embodiment of the invention is illus trated in the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the block;
Fig. 2, a plan. sectional view on the line 22, Fig. 3; and
Fig. 3, a side elevation partly in section, showing the block in position for playing the game.
Similar numerals refer to similar parts throughout the drawing.
The invention contemplates the use of a rectangular block 1 which may be of wood or other suitable material of substantially the proportions illustrated in the drawing. This block is provided with a plurality of longitudinal. passages. four being the preferred nunihen opening through one end of the block as at '2.
In the form of the invention illustrated, the two central passages 3 extend from the end 2 to a point spaced from the opposite end 3' of the block. terminating in the angular passages 4: which open through the upper face 5 of the block.
Each of the side passages 6 extends from Serial No. 682,548.
the end 2 to a point spaced from the opposite end 3 of the block and terminates in an angular passage 7 opening through the adjacent side edge 8 of the block.
in playing the game, the block is tilted as shown in Fig. the end portion 3 being raised and resting upon any suitable oh- ;iect. such as the books 9, the forward end 2 resting upon the surface 10 of a table, floor or the like. The passages 3 and 6 are thus all inciincd downward from the angular terminations thereof.
lic'iarbles or similar spherical objects, as shown at 11, may then be placed in any of the angular portions at. or 7 of the passages and permitted to roll downward through the passages by gravity, emerging from the lower end of the block and rolling across the table or other surface upon which the same is supported.
Considerable amusementis afforded to young children in playing the game, as they may select different ones of the openings l or 7 in which to place the marble, after which the marble disappears from either side momentarily and always emerges at the lower end of the block.
I claim 1. A game including a block provided with a plurality of longitudinal passages extending through one end of the block and terminating in angular passages near the opposite end of the block.
2. A. game including a block provided with a plurality of longitudinal passages extending through one end of the block and terminating in angular passages extending through the top and sides of the block near the opposite end thereof.
3. A game including a block provided with a plurality of longitudinal passages extending through one end of the block. the passages near each side edge of the blocl; terminating in angular passages extending through the adjacent sides of the block and the central passages terminating in angular passages extending through the top of the block.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name.
WILLIAM H. LAUTZENHEISER.
