MARBLE GAME-BOARD.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FRANK ADRAN HU- LETT a citizen of the United States, residing at gouth Londonderry, in the county of Windham and State of Vermont, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Marble Game-Boards, and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to game boards and the primary object of the invention is to provide an improved board having inclined end walls forming means for projecting a 1narble over the surface of the board, which is provided at diagonally opposed corners with a plurality of spaced recesses in which the marble seats counting a certain number of points.

Another object of the invention is to provide an improved game board, in which the end walls are inclined inwardly, that is adapted to be played by two persons who should try to gain the most number of polnts by rolling a marble or the like down the 111- clined walls and into the spaced recess formed on the surface of the board, which count a predetermined number of points.

Another object of the invention is to provide an improved game board of the above character, whichis durable andefiicient in use, one that is simple and easy to manufacture, and one that can be placed upon the market at a reasonable cost. I l/Vith these and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and formation of parts as will be hereinafter more specifically described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings forming a part. thereof in which:

Referring to the drawings'in detall, wherein similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts, throughout the several views, the numeral 1 generally indicates the improved board,'which includes the fiat rectangular-plate 2, having side bars 3 secured to its longitudinal edges. The side bars 3 project above the surface of the plate 2 and form retaining members to prevent Specification of Letters Patent.

The ends of the side bars 3 are connected by end walls 4 which are positioned on and secured to the upper surface of the plate 2. The end walls 4 have their upper surface inclined inwardly toward each other as at 5 fora purpose which will hereinafter appear.

The plate 2 is provided with a plurality of spaced recesses or pockets 6 at diagonally opposed corners and these pockets are adapted to receive a marble or the like 7 which is arranged to be projected over the surface of the board.

The recesses or pockets 6 maybe arranged in any suitable manner and when the marble 7 seats in any one of the same, a certain number of points are given to the player whose marble goes into the pocket Any suitable number of points may be given to the players and the pockets may all count the same number of points or each pocket may count, if so desired, a larger or smaller number. The pockets 6 (as shown) are in the form of a square and include four outer pockets 7 which are arranged at each corner of a square and a center pocket 8. However any other suitable arrangement of pockets may be made, without departing from the scope of the invention.

In playing theimproved game board the marble or ball 7, is placed on the inclined wall 5 of the end wall 4: and allowed to gravitate down the same which gives the ball sufficient momentum to roll over the surface of the board and when the ball is suitably directed, the same will fall into one of the pockets of the opposite ends ofthe board from which the ball was rolled down and thus give the player the number of points to which he is entitled when the ball falls The board is adapted to be played by two players, each of which stand at the opposite ends of the board and the players take turns, in rolling the marble down the inclined walls 4 toward the opposite players pockets and the player making the predetermined number of points wins the game. 7

In practice, I have foundthat the form of my invention, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and referred tointhe' above description, as the preferredbmbodiments, isthe most efficient and practical; yet realizing the conditions concurrent with the adopting of my device will necessarily vary,

I desire to emphasize the fact that *various minor changes in details of construction, proportion and arrangement of parts may be resorted to, when required, without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention as set forth.

VWlat I claim as new is:

A game board comprising a substantially rectangular fiat base plate, a plurality of spaced pockets formed in the upper surface of the plate adjacent the opposite diagonal corners thereof, flat side bars secured to the longitudinal edges of the plate forming retaining members and projecting above the upper surface thereof, end bars carried by the transverse edges of the plate and s cured to the upper surface of the plate and having downwardly and inwardly inclined upper surfaces, said surfaces being arranged to receive and project a marble toward said pockets, the pockets being arranged in a square formation, as and for the purpose specified.
