GAME B OARD To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, ALFRED T. FLINT and EDWIN Fixxsimw, subjects of the King of Great Britain and Ireland, residing at Shefiield, in the county of York, England, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game-Boards, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to game-boards divided into squares and provided with movable playing-pieces; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of the parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of the game-board. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the game-board, from below. Figs. 3 and t are cross-sections, taken on the lines 12 and 3i respectively in Fig. 2.

he game-board consists of a hollow box or inverted trap A having a flat top which is marked with a series of squares or sections on its surface. Certain of these squares are cut away to form holes B. In the example shown the board is divided into two parts, one for each player, and these parts are separated by a bar or bridge A, and a row of holes 13 is arranged on each side of the bridge. Each hole is provided with a trap-door C mounted on a pivot D and pro vided with a weight E, or any equivalent means, for normally holding it raised so as to close the hole pertaining to it.

The playing-pieces consist of disks 0, which are moved from one square to another by the players. hen one of these pieces is moved onto a trapdoor the weight of the piece causes the trap-door to descend automatically, so that the piece is discharged into the hollow box, and the trapdoor then rises to its original position.

In order to vary the playing of the game the trap-doors are provided with movable locking-devices.

F is an endless band arranged between the two rows of trap-doors and which passes over rollers G journaled in bearings G secured to the underside of the board. The shaft I of one of these rollers is provided with a knob 2 for revolving it, secured to its end portion outside the board. The endless band F is provided with lateral projections H at its side edges, at various points of its length. door it prevents the weight of the piece a from depressing the trap-door. The band F is moved from time to time to lock the different trapdoors, and in accordance with preestablished rules for playing the game.

The game is played in a similar manner to the well known game of checkers, each player having a set of playing-pieces or men, distinguished by color or form, and the pieces being moved across the board from opposite sides, and from one square to another in succession.

A game-board having its surface divided into squares and provided with holes corresponding tocertain of the said squares, and having also in said holes depressible trap-doors filling the same and pivoted at one edge and adapted to tilt under the weight of playing-pieces and pe rmitthe passage thereof through the holes, and having also locking-devices for securing certain of the said trap-doors.

3. A game-board having its surface divided into squares provided vith holes cor responding to certain of the said squares and arranged in two rows and having also in said holes depressible trap-doors filling the same and pivote at one edge and adapted to tilt under the weight of the playing-pieces and permit the passage thereof through the holes, and having also a band supported between the rows of holes and provided with lateral projections for locking certain of the trap-doors, and means for moving the said band longitudinally.
