A. D. ALLMAN CIGARETTE HOLDER AND EXTINGUISHER Filed Dec. 6. 1923 tamed Nov. 25, 1924.
ARV'EL D. ALLMAN, OF BLYTHEDAIE, MISSOURI.
CIGARETTE HOLDER AND EXTI'NG-UISHER.
Application filed December 6, 1923. Serial No. 678,970.
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that ARVEL D. ALLMAN, a
citizen of the United States of America, I residing at Blythedale, in the county of Har rison and State of Missouri, has invented new and useful Improvements in Cigarette Holders and Extinguishers, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention has for its purpose to provide, in a cigarette holder and extinguisher, a construction forming a part of the holder proper, whereby the extinguisher or cap may engage therewith and thereby extinguish the fire at the burning end of the cigarette, thereby incidentally saving the cigarette whichmay again be lighted at another time. 5,
There are many cigarette holders, including caps, on the market and a good many which are patented have not reached the market due to their unsanitary construction. However, it is to be borne in mind that the inventor is not laying claim to any broad construction of holder or cap but does maintain that his particular type of holder and extinguisher or cap more readily performs the function of ,a holder and extinguisher than those heretofore devised due to the fact that when the cap or extinguisher is applied, the end of the cigarette which engages theholder is choked, additionally preventing a draft, thereby causing the fire at the lighted end of the cigarettcto extinguish.
' It is to be understood that the particulars herein given are in no way limitative and that, while still keeping within the scope of the invention, any desired modifications of detail and desired proportions may be made in the device according to the circumstances.
The invention comprises further features and combinations of parts to be hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings and claimed;
In the drawings:
Figure 1 isa view in perspective of the improved cigarette holder and extinguisher constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view through the same, showing the cap in place and the end of the holder contracted, acting to choke the end of the cigarette which is inserted in the holder.
Figure 3 is a detail perspective view of a holder without the extinguisher or cap.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates the holder which may be constructed of any suitable material, such as ivory, amber, hard rubber or the like, and which has a mouthpiece 2 through which a passage 3 is formed.
This passage merges into a cigarette receiv- 'with the socketed end of the holder, thereby preventing a draft and causingv the fire at the lighted end of the cigarette to extinguish.
2. As an article of manufacture, a cigarette holder and extinguisher including a holder proper provided with a mouthpiece and a through passage, said passage terminating in a cigarette receiving socket at the end of the holder opposite the mouthpiece, and a fire extinguishing cap adapted to fit over the cigarette and engage the socketed.
end of the holder. to prevent a draft and thereby cause the fire at the lighted end of the cigarette to extinguish.
In testimony whereof he afiixes, signature. ARVEL n. ifLMAN.
