Description

E. COLPTTS HAIR CLlPPER Filed May 26. 1921 Patented Mar. 4l', ld.
NETE@ EMLEASEY COIIPIIVJIS7 OF SANGERVILLE, MAINE.
HAIR CLIPPER.
Application filed May 26, 1921.
To all whom z't may concern.'
Be it known that I, EMEASEY CoLriTTs, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing in the city of Sangerville and State of E; Maine, have invented new and useful Improvements in Hair Clippers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention pertains to hair clippers,
1c and the object is to provide an improved form of clippers having interchangeable stationary blade plates of varying degrees of thickness, which may be quickly interchanged for cutting the hair to different lengths.
In the drawings:
Figure l is a bottom view of a pair of clippers equipped with this improvement, the stationary blade plate being removed.
Figure 2 is a side elevation, the stationary blade plate being removed.
Figure 3 is a plan view of one of the stationary blade plates.
Figure 4 is an edge view of one of the stationary blade plates.
Figure 5 is a detail showing the method of locking the stationary blade plates in position.
The invention consists in providing the usual clippers 1 with a dovetailed slideI 2 across the base 8 immediately back of the movable blade 9. The slide 2 is adapted to slidingly engage the complementary mortise 3 in the lower, stationary blade plate 4. A Spring latch 5 is hingedly mounted at 6 Serial No. 472,624.
at the back of the slide 2, and is adapted to engage a registering notch 7 cut in the back edge of the plate 4, and thus the stationary blade plate 4 is releasably locked in place on the clippers. As stated, by providing stai0 tionary blade plates of different thicknesses, they may he quickly changed as desired, for cutting hair to dierent lengths.
While I have herein described a certain specific method of constructing and assembling the elements of my invention, it is understood same may be varied in minor details, not departing from the spirit of my invention as dened in the appended claim.
I claim:
In combination with a pair of hair clip.- pers, interchangeable stationary blade plates therefor, comprising a dovetailed slide formed across the base of the clippers back of the movable blade; stationary blade plates of varying thicknesses, each having a mortise formed along its upper side adapted to slidingly engage the said dovetailed slide and each having a registering notch in its back edge; and means for releasably locking said stationary blade plates in position, said means including a latch hinged at the back of the slide of the clippers, and adapted to engage the said registering notches in the back edges of the stationary blade plates.
EMEASEY COLPITTS.
