connmarron vnmri Herman 1 Application flied January 18,1923. iseri al' To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, NATHAN .KnsoAN, a citizen of Russia, and a resident of Bronx, inthe county of Bronx, city and State. of ."NcyrYork, and DANI P L QK, a citizen Qf 'tlle 'United States. and a resident .101 Brooklyn, New York, have. inyented certain new and11$Bful Irnpro vements-in Combination YanityyArticlfes, of: which the follow?- ing isaspecifiication. V f. r The object of the; invention is toprovide a novel combination vanity structure pos- TSBSSiIIg a; number of utilities and which may be conveniently carried and used as occasion may require.
The article of our invention comprises a box having a hinged lid and includes in its structure a housipgifor .aElip-stick holder, .a mirror and avcompartinent for 'ag'compact and a; padser 'aspowder pufi or similar articles; the lmusingg; for the lipstick; holder beingextendedfcrosswiseaof the box and receiving the body. of saidwholder, while the slide within theholder has its button or head exposed for nse in- Withdrawing the butlinez-andsha w nfi a size o be conven entlyparriedin the hand or within the vusuadrhandbag carried by ladies.
T eain sntio W b fu y u rs ood from the detailed description hereinafter present reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a plan View of a vanity case or box embodying my invention;
Fig. 2 is a vertical section through the same taken on the dotted line 2-2' of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse section through the same taken on the dotted line 3-3 of Fig. 1; and
Fig. 4 is a similar section through the same taken on the dotted line 44 of Fig. 1.
In the drawings, 15 designates the body portion of a cylindrical case or box, and 16 the lid or cover portion thereof connected with said body portion by a suitable hinge 17 so that said lid or cover may be opened and closed at will. The body portion 15 may be utilized to receive one or more com? pacts; a. powder puff and the like. Within the l d @16- is secured a mirror 18 by means f ai tight fitting metal ring orband 19, said mirror being available for use when the lid 16 is opened from thebody portion 15.?
; The:lid '16 is of special construction in that it has a eentral longitudinal portion thereoji pressed upwardly to :tbrm'fianelongated, housip-gQQiera lip-stick holder-21, saifd housing being closed at its rearend by theimetal of the lid (Fig. 2). and open at its front end (Figs. 1 and 2). to admit the lipstick holder to the housing and permit the Same, with the use ofthe usual knob or button 23, to be Withdrawn from said hous .ing whenever it may be desired to usethe liprstick '22. The holder-'21, stick 22 and button 23 are of commercial type and hence PoLLAc'K. or BnooKLYN. NEW YORK,
require no special description, but in the metal of the. housing is closed inwardly from opposite sides oi the housing. as at 24, to pass below L the butiir side portions'of the holder fi l and-afiordclcsefitting guides and suppflit for 'said holder, aswell as means formaintaining the holder clear ofthje back oi the -mirror 18 Thelidl-(i at the front ot the housingfio isiconcaued, as was, and inclined slightlycdown-wardly toward the 'tfiilance tQ;$he'hQ1lSifig '3nd this formation results in there being a retarding action between the surface 25 and the exposed end of the holder 21 suiiicient to yieldingly aid in securing the holder within the housing 20. The button 23 of the holder 21 is on positioning the holder Within the housing 20 forced over the upper outer edge of the housing, pinching said edge and in that way aiding to prevent accidental displacement of the holder from the housing.
We have indicated the holder 21 as a lipstick holder, but We do not limit the invention to any particular cosmetic that may be held Within the holder 21. While the holder 21 is a lip-stick holder, it may be employed for a cosmetic other than rouge, as, for instance,a stick of black material 01 the eyebrows.
