INCUBATOR'TRAY. APPLICATION FILED JUNE 21.192!- Patented Apr. H, 1922.

WITNESSES ATTORNEYS @EFFltCt JOE KOVAR; OF COUPLANLD, TEXAS.
INC'UBATOB TRAY.
Application filed June 21,
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, Jon KovAR, a'citizen of the United States, and resident of Coupland, in the county of Williamson and State of. Texas, have invented a new and Improved Incubator Tray, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to an incubator tray, and aims to provide certain new and useful improvements in connection with devices of this character.
In connection with incubator trays it is a well appreciated fact that difiiculty has been experienced in that primarily it has been necessary at certain specified intervals to turn each egg in the incubator. Aside from the fact that the eggs were allowed to become chilled or cracked incident to handling, a great amount of time has been necessary for the accomplishment of this operation, and even, with the most careful attention, certain of the eggs were liable to be neglected which would result in a stoppage of further incubation within the same.
Furthermore trays for the most part have been cumbersome and relatively expensive in manufacture aside from numerous other difficulties experienced in connection with devices of this character.
With this in'mind, my present invention aims to provide an incubator tray in which structure will be presented by means of which all of the eggs within the tray may be simultaneously and quickly turned, so that the expense, incident to the delay heretofore experienced in this operation will be eliminated, aside from the fact that danger of injury to the eggs will be precluded.
A further object of my invention is the construction of a tray which will be ex tremely compact and capable of being manufactured at a nominal figure.
Further objects of my invention will appear in the annexed specification taken in connection with the drawings, which latter illustrate practical embodiments of the same, and in which;
Figure 1 is a plan view of a tray embodying my improved construction.
Figure 2 is a bottom plan view thereof.
Figure 3 is a sectional side view taken along the line 3-3 and in the direction of the arrows indicated in Figure 1, and
Figure 4 is a transverse sectional view Specification of Letters Patent.
to extend between two eggs. will be seen that one of the end sections Patented Apr. 11, 1922 1921. Serial No. 79,246.
taken along the line 4.4t and in the direction of the arrows also indicated in Figure 1.
Referring now more particularly to Figures 3 and 4 it will be seen that the reference numeral 5 indicates supporting legs of any suitable character, which are secured together by means of brace rods 6 having their outer ends preferably bent upward as at 7 to provide guiding as well as supporting elements.
Mounted upon the support thus provided is a tray comprising a pair of end portions 8 and 9 arranged at the ends of the main body portion 10 which latter is preferably formed of wire mesh permitting of the circulation of air. It will be noted that the end sections 8 and 9 of the tray are slidably movable with respect to the body portion 10 thereof, and this movement may be manually effected by utilizing a pair of handle elements 12 and 13 secured to the underside of these end portions, and extending slidably through grooves in the cross braces 14; underlying the body 10 of the tray.
Resting within the tray is a frame comprising a pair of side members 15 between which partially spaced bars 16 extend, a handle 17 being also preferably affixed to this frame. Normally the end sections 8 and 9 are thrown towards each other by means of the handles 12 and 13 so that the frame is retained against movement and the eggs may now be disposed in the manner indicated in dotted lines in Figure 3, it being also noted in this connection that the thermometer 18 may be mounted upon the support 10 secured to the frame. If the eggs are now to be turned the end sections of the tray are extended as in Figure 3 and the entire frame may be moved by means of the handle 17 to simultaneously turn all of the eggs within the tray, which is permitted by virtue of the fact that the bars 16 will bear against the sides of the eggs, the latter resting upon the mesh 10 or other material forming the base of the body of the tray.
Thus all of the eggs are simultaneously and quickly turned, and the difficulty noted in the preamble of this specification is overcome, it being further noted that strips 20 may extend between and be slidably secured to the bars 16 so that they may be adjusted Further it may be provided with an opening 21 through Which the chicks may pass to the breeder portion of the incubator subsequent to the eggs being hatched.
Thus it Will be seen that all of the objects set forth in the preamble of this specification have been accomplished and it Willbe understood that numerous modifications of structure might readily be resorted to Without in the least departing from the spirit of my invention, Which I claim as;
1. An incubator tray including a body portion a frame mounted Within said tray and being normally held immovable thereby, said frame being arranged upon the supporting face of said tray, said tray being capable of being extended whereby said frame may be moved with respect thereto.
2. An incubator tray including a plurality of parts telescopic with respect to each other, a frame disposed upon the supporting face of said tray, and normally retained immovable With respect thereto by engagement with the side portions thereof, said frame being movable Within said tray upon the parts of the latter being extended with respect to each other.
3. An incubator tray including a plurality of parts telescopic With respect to each other, a frame disposed upon the supporting face of said tray and normally retained immovable with respect thereto by engagement With the side portions thereof, said frame being movable within said tray, one of the parts of said tray being formed with an opening.
