Description
C. G. KING.
BRACELET.
APPLICATION man APR-,8. 1919.

PATENT FHQE.
CLIFFORD G. KING, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND, ASSIGNOR .TO HIMSELF AND ARTHUR I. CLARK, OF CRANSTON, RHODE ITSLAJATDQ BRACELET.
Original application filed June 8, 1918,
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CLIFFORD G. KING, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bracelets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to snap hooks for bracelets and the like and especially for expansible bracelets of the type described inmy application Serial No. 238,821 filed June 8, 1918 (now Patent No. 1,803,220, May 6, 1919) of which this application is a division, and its object is to provide the Snap hook which does not require a resilient tongue or a spring to hold the tongue in closed position.
In the drawings which accompany and form a part of this specification- Figure 1 is an elevation of an expansible bracelet provided with my improved snap hook, Fig. 2 is an elevation of one embodiment of said snap hook, Fig. 3 is a transverse section taken on the line3-3 of Fig. 2, Fig. 4 is a vertical section of one end of the expansible bracelet shown in Fig. 1, and Fig. 5 is a vertical section showing the parts of a portion of the bracelet in extended position.
In the embodiment of my invention selected for illustration 1 represents the body portion of a snap hook terminating in a hook 2 and provided with a slot arranged to receive the tongue 3 said tongue being pivoted to the body portion at 4. One or, preferably, both sides of, the tongue are provided'with enlargements 5 arranged to cooperate with a similarly shaped depression or depressions in the wall or walls of the body portion of the snap hook.
The body portions of the hooks are se-- cured by soldering or in any other suitable manner to the end tubes of the bracelet for the purpose of attaching the latter to the rings of a wrist watch 6.
The construction of the bracelet for which my snap hook is especially designed is shown in Fig. 4. The shell 7 incloses a tube 8 which is connected resiliently to the hinge member 7' of said shell and to the hinge member 8' of the next adjacent tube by the Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 13, 1921.
Serial No. 238,821. Divided. and this application filed April 8, 1919. Serial No. 288,460.
sufficient movement of the tongue to allow the hook to be removed from the watch ring.
It will be apparent from the foregoing that the usual resilient tongue or non-resilient tongue provided with a spring is not required inasmuch as the enlargements 5 which snap into their cooperating recesses and the shell 7 will hold the tongue in closed position. 7
It will be understood that various modifications may be made in the particular embodiment of my invention specifically disclosed herein without departing from my invention as defined by the appended claims.
I claim:
1. The combination with an expansible bracelet of a snap hook comprising a hollow body portion terminating in a hook and having a depression in one of the interior walls thereof, and a tongue inclosed within and pivoted to said body portion and having an enlargement of one of the sides thereof arranged to cooperate with said depression in the interior wall of said body portion.
2. The combination, with an expansible bracelet comprising a shell, a tube inclosed within-said shell and resilient means'connecting said tube and shell, of a snap hook having a body portion secured to one end of said tube and a tongue pivoted tosaid body portion, the end of said shell being maintained by said resilient means against said tongue when the parts of said bracelet CLIFFORD G. KING.
