APPLICATION FILED APR. 10, 1919.
Patented June 8, 1920.
the above character I v THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
YIVIEDICAIL POUCH,
Application filed April 10,
To all whom it may concern: 7
Be it known that I, WILLIAM EDWARD EATON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Washington, District of Columbia, have invented new and useful Improvements in Medical Pouches, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to pouches and more particularly to first aid or medical pouches particularly adapted for use in the naval and military service.
One of the objects of the present invention is to provide a simple and practical pouch of the above general character which may be easily and inexpensively made.
A further object is to provide a pouch of which may be easily and quickly adjusted to varying capacities according to the use to which it is put.
A further object is to provide a strong and durable pouch of the above character which may be conveniently carried about from one place to another and to take the place of a chest of wood, metal or other material frequently used for similar purposes by military forces under favorable circumstances.
Another object is that the pouch may be emptied of contents and used as a receptacle for water, being held together in proper position by the draw strap to retain the water. Other objects will be in part obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.
As illustrative of the present invention a sheet of drawings is herewith attached in which similar reference characters denote corresponding parts.
Figure 1 of these drawings is a perspective view of the pouch in openposition.
Fi 2 is a plan view of the blank from which the pouch is made. 7
Referring now to the drawing in detail and particularly Fig. 2 wherein is shown the blank from which the pouch is folded, 5 may be considered as one side of the pouch and 6 the opposite side while 7 denotes the end flap adapted to be folded over the open top as shown in Fig. 1. The sides of the pouch are indicated at 8 and around the marginal edge thereof are a series of eyelets 9 through which a strap 10, Fig. 1 is adapt ed to pass. The blank is folded along the dotted lines indicated in Fig. 2 to form a Specification of Letters Patent.
1919. Serial No. 289,162.
plurality of accordion plaits or to substantially the shape shown in Fig. 1. The strap 10 is then inserted through the eyelets and extends across the front and the ends are by any suitable form of mower. 1
WILLIAMEDWARDEATON, or WASHINGTON, DISTRICT or COLUMBIA, nssren'oaro Patented June 8, 1920. h
will be noted, is continued to form a carrying means 11 a horse.- A shoulder pad 16 may be applied, if desired, as shown in Fig. l. I V
Both the front and rear sides of the pouch which may be passed over the shoulder or secured to the saddle on are provided with pocketed reinforcing members12. for thepurpose of strengthening the side members as well as keeping the pouch in proper shape. i
Flap 7 may be closed and secured to the body portion in any desired manner as by means of the co-acting fasteners comprising a buckle-13 secured to one part for engaging a strap 14: on the other. The interiorof the pouch may be provided with a plurality of pockets 15 if so desired bandage rolls, adhesives cines.
From the above it will be seen that the present invention provides a simple and practical pouch or first aid mediwhich may be easily,
adapted to receive quickly and inexpensively manufactured.
The pouch is strong and durable and its capacity to which'it may be put.
What I claim is 1. A medical pouch formed from a single sheet of material of general rectangular may be varied according to the use I shape and adapted to be folded to provide a plurality of accordion plaits along its sides,
said plaits having eyelets, and a strap pass-' ing through said eyelets one end of said strap being provided with a buckle, the free end of the strap passing through the eyelets and the buckle and constituting a carrying means, said pouch being provided with reinforcing members along the upper edges of its front and rear sides thereby to provide means for retaining pouch.
2. A'medical pouch formed from a single sheet of material of general rectangular shape and adapted to be folded to provide a plurality of accordion plaits along its oppothe shape of said.
of said strap being provide d with a buckle,
the free endof the strap passing through a carrying means, along the upper edges of it 5 theeyeletstand the vbuckle and constituting reinforcing. members. sfront and reer sides adapted to maintaiii the shepe ofsaid pouch, a plurality, of pockets Within, the pouch, andmeans for securing said pouch 10 in closed position.
