To all whom t may concern,.-

Be it known that I, HELEN D. WHEELER, a citizen of the United States, residing in Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Music-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in m usic-holders.

The object of my invention is to overcome the difficulties heretofore found in the use of the ordinary mnsic-holders-for example, the Wearing off and breaking of the folds of the music, the tearing of the leaves, and the injury by close rolling of the sheets.

My invention consists in forming the holder of flexible material, two edges of which are adapted to fold down upon the music to be carried, and having flaps stitched to the center portion of the two other edges, said iaps being also adapted to fold down upon the music and protect the ends of the same. The side iiaps are notched or separated at the cen- 1er of their length so as to allow the back or cover to fold or double without buckling the flaps. It is also provided with suitable handles for carrying and a strap and buckle for retaining the holder in its folded position.

My inventionwill be more readily understood by reference to the accompanying drawings, in Which- Figure lis a perspective'view of the holder folded. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the holder unfolded. Fig. 3 is a perspective of the same partially folded.

In the drawings, A may represent the flexible back or cover, having two of its edges A adapted to fold at d upon the music and over the flaps B. The flaps B are stitched to the'cover, asat b, and extend inward so as to protect the ends of the music, and are also notched or separated at b', so that the cover may be doubled along its center Without buckling the iiaps. v

C is a strap attached to the cover at c and furnished with a buckle c', adapted to retain the holder in its folded position.

D D are the handles for carrying the holder.

The music is inserted into the holder under lthe flaps B, and the ends A of the cover A are then folded over both the music and side flaps, and the Whole is then doubled and the strap C passed around and fastened by the buckle.

It Will be seen the fold or bend given the music is a loose one and that when released the music will resume its at state at once, and also that the usual Wear and tear is greatly reduced.

1. A flexible music-holder consisting of the back or cover A, having folding edges A and side iaps B, said flaps being notched at the line of folding of the holder, substantially as specified.

2. A iieXible music-holder adapted to fold loosely along the centerline of the music and having folding edges and side flaps covering all the edges of the sheets, said iiaps being notched at the center line, substantially as specied.
