HENRY H. WAGNER, 0F MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALE T0 WILLIAM LEISSRING', OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN. f
LINGERIE-CLASP.
Specication of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 11, 1919.
Application led May 4, 1918. Serial No. 232,509.
that class of clasps which are adapted tov be used for grasping and connecting together two or more bands, or strips of fabric, so that they cannot slip past each other, they being used more especially to hold the so-called lingerie straps, or straps of fabric by which a corset is held in place in connection with another garment, said bands being each permanently connected at its respective ends with said garments.
My invention is further explained by reference to the accompanying drawing, in whichi Figure 1 represents a preferred form of the so-called lingerie clasp, in which all of the parts are formed of a single piece of resilient metal.
Fig. 2 is a vertical section, drawn on line 2-2 of Fig. 3, showing two bands connected together by points or barbs so that they cannot slide past each other.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the device shown in Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a side view, and
Fig. 5 a plan view of a modified form of the device.
Like parts are identified by the same reference numerals throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawings, Figs. 1 to 3 inclusive show the two members 1 and 2 connected together by the resilient member 3, said members 1 and 2 being adapted to be thrown apart slightly as soon as their 0pposite ends 4t are separated. The ends 4 are each preferably U-shaped, and they are adapted to spring apart slightly as said parts 1 and 2 are separated, whereby said parts 1 and 2 are adapted to be placed upon and around the two straps, or pieces, of fabric 5 and 6, as shown in Fig. 2. Fig. 3 shows the twostraps or pieces of fabric 5 and 6 connected together by the clasp, and in which they are prevented from sliding past each other by the barbs or points 7 and 8, which barbs or points are adapted to penetrate such straps. i
In the modified form shown in Figs. l and 5, the resilient member 3 is substituted by the hinge 9 and spring 10, said spring 10 being held in place by the rivet 11, the clasp being formed in all other respects substantially like that shown in Figs. 1 to 3 inclusive. Y While I have shown and described a plurality of barbs orpoints in connection with `my clasps for holding the straps of the s0- called lingerie device, it is obvious that a single barb or point may be made instead of two.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-d A lingerie clasp integrally formed of two parallel yielding members, free at one end, and connected at the other by a resilient portion which tends to separate the free ends of said members, the said free ends being provided with interlocking portions p which engage with each other to hold the parallel members of the clasp in operative relation, and one of the saidV members provided with integrally formed projecting teeth for engaging and holding the straps of articles of apparel to prevent relative movement of such articles of apparel.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
