VENCIL MARUSKA, JR., OF RED CLOUD, NEBBASKA.
WALL-PAPER HANGER.
Application filed December 30, 1916.
To al 'witam it may Gomera:
le it known that I, VENciL MARUsKA, J r., a citizen of the United States, residing at Red Cloud, in the county of Vebster and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful In'iprovements in Tall-Paper Hangers; and 1 do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the inventon, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This inventon relates to improvements in wall paper ha-nging devices, and has for its primary object the provision of a device of this nature that will admit of the paper being hung in a more eonvenient and expeditious manner, and which includes a paste dist-rbuting tank for applying paste to the paper previous to the paper being presented to the wall.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a device of this Character which will -be of simple and durable construction, cheap to manufacture and efficient in operation.
Other objects will appear and be better understood from that embodiment of my inventon of which 'the following is aspecification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part thereof, in which:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the paper hanging device,
Fig. 2 is a side view thereof,
Fig. 3 is a vertieal seetional view taken through the paper hanging device, and
Fig. 4 is a side view of the paste distributing tank, showing the outlet therein.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the paper hanging device is shown as consisting of a substantially U-shaped frame 1, which has the connecting portion for the sides thereof sufibstantially V-shaped, as shown in Fig. 1, and formed integral with the apex portion of the V-shaped connecting portion for the sides of the frame is a sleeve 2, that receives one end of the handle 3. The sides of the V- shaped connecting portion for the sides of the frame are braced by means of a bar 4, which has its opposite ends connected to the respective sides of the V-shaped portion, as shown in F ig. 1 of the drawing. The respective side port-ions of the frame 1 are provided with inclined slots 4, the slot in each side opening into one of the side edges of the sides of the frame, as shown in Fig. 2,
Speeificaton of Letters Patent.

Serial No. 139,726.
and the said slots rotatably receive the opposite ends of a shaft 5, the shaft 5 having a roller 6 thereon around which is wound the wall paper designated 7. A second roller, designated 8, is interposed between the sides of the frame 1, adjacent the free ends of the sides, and is carried by a shaft 9, the opposite ends of which are journaled in openings in the sides of the frame, the roller 8 being adapted to have the wall paper pass thereover, and is adapted to serve as a presser roller for pressing the pasted paper into engagement with the wall so as to securely fasten the paper on the wall. A pair of laterally extending and V-shaped brackets 10 are formed integral With the Isides of the frame 1, as shown in Fig. 2, and
are provided with slots 11, which removably receive lugs 12 carried by the opposite ends of an elongated cylindrical shaped tank 13. Suitable fastening elements 14 are pivotally associated with the V-shaped bracket 10 and have notches therein for engaging over the lu s 12 so as to prevent accidental withdrawa of the lugs from the slots during the paper hanging operation. The tank 13 is adapted to contain paste and is provided on one side with an elongated discharge opening or slot 15, through which the paste is discharged. The tank is also provided with a suitable filling spout 16, at one side thereof, and which is normally closed by means of a removable cap 17.
In use, a roll of paper is wound around the roller 6, and one end of the paper is then drawn over the tank 13 and passed over the discharge slot 15, so as to admit of a coating of paste being applied to the paper, the terminal of the end of the paper being then passed over the presser roller 8. The paper hanging device is then canted and the end of the paper presented tO the wall and pressed into engagement therewith by means of the presser roller 8. The frame 1 is then moved downwardly along the wall, so as to effect unrolling of the paper and the application of the same to the wall.
Various changes might be resorted to in the construction, form and arrangement of the several parts without departing from the spirit and scope of the inventon as claimed.
Having thus described my inventon what 1 claim as new, is:
A paper holding device consisting of a substantially U-shaped frame, a Paper holding and a pressure roller carried by said U- freely When the paper is being applied to 10 shaped frame, V-shaped brackets carried by the Wall. 7
