Description

(No Model.) v
R. O. GILLILAND.
WRAPPING PAPER HOLDER-- No. 364,915.- Patented June 14, 1887.
* UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROBERT C. GILLILAND, SNOW SHOE, PENNSYLVANIA.
To all whom/it may concern/:
Be it known that I, ROBERT C. GILLILAND,
' of Snow Shoe, in the county of Centre and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Wrapping-Paper Holders, which improvement is fully set forth in the following'specification and accompany-- ing drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved wrapping paper holder,with wrappingpaper attached thereto; and Fig. 2 is a side view of the lower part of the same.
My invention relates to an improvement in wrapping-paper holders so disposed as to be placed within convenient reach of the salesmen, thereby saving both time and trouble in hunting for paper, and at the same time giving counter-room for goods that would otherwise be taken up by the paper; and it consists of a piece of wire looped centrally at its upper part, with pendent deflected ends provided at their lower ends with spring-catches, to which the paper is attached, and so disposed that the device may be hung up, all'of which will now be set forth in detail.
In the accompanying drawings, A represents a piece of wire or other suitable material pro-' hinged arms G, beneath the upper end of which I provide a curved or other suitable spring, H, one end of which is riveted to the bar G, while the other has a bearing against the outer face of the flattened part E. The lower end of the flattened'part E is provided with an opening, while immediately opposite on the inner face of the bar G is a spur or needle, I, so that the spring H will cause this spur I toenter the opening at the lower end WRAPPING-PAPER HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part; of Letters Patent No. 364,915, dated June 14, 1887.
Application filed November 5, 1886. Serial No. 218,065. (No model.)
of the flattened part E, so that when paper or other material is placed within the jaws of the device the spring H will cause the spur or needle I to perforate the papers, so that when the point enters the opening of the flattened part E the said papers will be held securely in position, and it is necessary to press upon the upper end of the bar G, so as to throw the spring outwardly, as shown by dotted lines-J, before the paper can be released; or, if this is not desired, by simply pulling upon a single sheet it can easily be torn loose without disengaging more than one sheet.
As will be noticed, the operation is very simple, and consists of disposing the device on the hook D or by means of a cord, so as to be in a pendent position. and then by simply pressing upon thebar G the paper may be placed in position and easily removed,,either by tearing loose a single sheet or removing the entire pack by pressing upon the bar Gr.
Having described my invention, whatI claim as new is- 1. The combination of the wire A, having centrally at the upper part a loop, 13, the ends 0 and D deflected so as to form a Vshaped figure, the lower ends, E, formed with'flattened faces and lugs therein provided with clips G, and spurs I, for securing the paper in position, substantially as herein set forth.
2. The combination of the wireA, provided centrally 'with loop B, the lower ends having
