PETER BIMELER, OF ZOAR, OHIO. ASSIGNGB OF ONE-HALF 'IO FRANK FOL'IZ, OF NAVARRE, OHIO.
BOTTLE-COVER AND ADVERTISING DEVICE.
Application filed January 24, 1917.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PETER BIMELER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Zoar, in the county of Tuscarawas and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Bottle-Cover and Advertising Device, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in bottle cover and advertising devices in which a collapsible frustum shaped structure is provided. said frustum shaped structure is preferably formed rectangular, and as shown ina conventional way is provided with six sides or faces.
The objects of the present invention are, first, to provide a simple structure and at the same time provide means whereby the structure can be extended or folded, second, to form a cover for an ink stand, and third, to provide means whereby pens or pencils may be held.
These objects, together with other objects readily apparent to those skilled in the art, may be attained by the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, although the invention may be embodied in other forms, the construction illustrated being chosen by way of example.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a view showing the device expanded and placed over an ink bottle.
Fig. 2 is a vertical section.
Fig. 3 is a detached view of the top or retaining disk.
Fig. 4: is a view showing the device in a collapsed or folded position.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several figures of the drawings.
In the accompanying drawing, 1 represents the retaining disk or top which is formed of a shape and size to correspond with the shape and size of the top or upper end of the frustum shaped body. The frustum is made up of any desired number of sections 2, which sections are for the purpose of placing on their outer faces any advertising matter or all of the sections may Specification of Letters Patent.

be used as a calendar. I have illustrated a calendar and in many instances a calendar is quite desirable. I
For the purpose of hinging the sections together in such a manner that the device can be folded as illustrated in Fig. 4 a strip of cloth 3 is connected to the various sections 2 in any convenient and well known manner, preferably by any well known adhesive substance such as glue. The top or upper ends of the various sections 2 are each provided with a groove 4, which groove is for the purpose of receiving the edge of the top 1, said top being formed of such a size with reference to the body or frustum proper that when placed in position it will be snugly held.
For the purpose of constituting what might be termed a pen rack the tops of the various sections 2 are provided with the notches or recesses 5, into which notches or recesses pens or pencils may be placed. I have illustrated this feature conventionally as it will be understood that changes as to the location of the notches and size of the top or upper portion of the frustum will vary.
By providing lining, preferably formed of cloth, the various sections will be securely connected together and a the same time protected against injury. It will also be understood that by hinging the sections together the device can be easily and quickly brought into the folded position illustrated in Fig. 4, it being understood that the top 1 must be removed, after which the body can be folded and the top and body placed in an envelop for mailing purposes or storing.
For the purpose of providing access to an ink well or bottle when the device is placed in the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the disk 1 is provided with the aperture 6. In the drawings I have illustrated the neck of the bottle extended a short distance above the disk, but it will be understood that this is immaterial as in some instances the disk may be in a plane above the eX- treme top of the bottle.
I claim: With a central aperture adapted to fit Within In a bottle cover and advertising (10- said grooves and hold the said body in an vice, a collapsible frustum-shaped body extended position. is consisting of a plurality of sections hingedly In testimony that I claim the above, I 5 connected together, grooves arranged in have hereunto subscribed my name.
horizontal alinement upon the inner faces of said sections, a detachable disk provided PETER BIMELER.
