Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 116,289, dated Junev27, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM D. FINK, of Windsor, in the county of Shelby and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Movable Standards in Wagons; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing formin g part of this speciication.
This invention relates to a new and useful improvement in wagon-standards, and consists in making' them movable or adjustable on the end of the bolster so as to make the ywagon-body broader or narrower, as may be desired, to accommodate diierent kinds of loading, or for other purposes.

A is the bolster of the wagon. B is a double strap E, seen in Fig. 1. F is a hole bored in the end of the bolster. Gr is a screw-nut placed in a recess, as seen. H is ascrew-bolt which passes through the end of the socket B and into the hole F, engaging with nut G. As before stated the socket B (with the standard) slides on the bolster, and it will be seen that by turning the screw-bolt the socket will be drawn back on the bolster and may be adjusted to any position re- Having thus described'iny invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A standard for bolsters of wagons, arranged to be adjusted laterally, substantially as shown and described.
