To all fwlhomit may concern Be it known that I, FREDERICK W. F INGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Louisville, in the county of Jefferson andA State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose-Nozzle Supports, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in stands of the type particularly adapted for supporting hose or other spraying apparatus, and the objects in view are simplicity, cheapness and efficiency.
The invention comprises certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter specifled and claimed.
In the accompanying drawing,-Figure 1 is a perspective view of an apparatus embodying the features of the invention, an application of hose thereto being indicated in dotted lines. Fig. 2 is van end view thereof.
Referring to the drawing vby numerals, 1 indicates the body of a support, which body consists of a spring coil formed ofone or morefhelices, the terminals of which extend from the body in the form of legs 2, 2, and terminate in feet 3, 3, the whole being formed preferably of spring wire or rod. Each of the legs 2 extends on an incline in two directions, one at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the body l, as seen in Fig. 1, and the other at a tangent tothe circle described by the body 1, as seen in Fig. 2.
' Prior to extending on the latter incline, each of the legs is formed with-a relatively straight portion 2 connected directly with the respective terminals of the body 1, the said terminals lapping the main portion of the helices, as clearly seen in Fig. 2.
The dual inclination of each leg 2 causes' the lower ends of the legs to be spaced apart axially and. also spaced apart laterally, whereby the feet 3 afford an effective purchase upon the supporting surface without the need for a penetrating point .or other positive engagement with suchsurface. The foot 3 ofV one leg 2 extends in the reverse direction from that of the other leg, and each extends approximately a distance equal to the axial spacing ofthe lower -ends of the legs, and' the' two feet beingfparallel afford a support for the legsrand body portion equal approximatelyto that which would be aorded by a rectangular platform whose length would equal the length of the feet 3.

To stiifen the free end of each foot'3, the
respective terminal is bent into a hook portion 3.
The complete structure is capable ofybeing nested with other like devices in very compact form for shipment, and inuse the operation of the device is obvious. The feet 3 are caused to restv upon the ground or other supporting surface and the nozzle is thrust through between the helices ofthe body portion l as seen in Fig. l, and may be set in any position or at any angular relation desired. Thenozzle is thus clamped and held firmly in the angular position given, regard-y less of differences in diameter of different hose.
What is claimed is 1. A hose stand comprising a helical body,
and divergent legsextending from-the ends of the body, said legs diverging both laterally and axially.
f2. A hose stand comprising a helical spring body, and divergent legs extending respectively fromv the ends of the body, said legs diverging both laterally and axially.
3. A hose stand comprising a helical spring body, legs diverging both laterally y and axially from the ends of the body, and
a foot extending from the lower end'of each leg, each foot extending toward the plane of the other leg.
