Description

v J'. RINDSBERG.
' STATIONERY. APPLICATION FILED NOV.23, 1911. RENEWED MAR. 18, 1913.
. Patented Oct. 21, 1913.
WITNESSES UNITED srnrns rna nnr onnrcn.
JOSEPH RINDSBERG, 0F RICHMOND, VIRGINIA.
STATIONERI Specification of Letters later Patented Get. 21, 1913.
Application filed November 23. 1911, Serial No. 661,898. Renewed March 18, 1913. Serial No. 755,257.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, J osnrn RINDsBnRc, a citizen of the United States, residing at Richmond, in the county of Henrico and State of Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stationery; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the in- .vention, such aswill enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to new and useful improvements in stationery and more particularly to a combination letter-head and envelop. v 1
The obiect of my invention is to so construct a letter-head that the same may befolded, sealed and directed without the necessity of using an envelop.
Other objects and advantages of my invention will be hereinafter made clearly apparent in the specification and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings I have shown the preferred forms which my invention may take. 7
In said drawings, Figure l is a plan view, showing the manner of forming the preferred form of my combined letter-head and envelop. Fig. 2 is a plan view, showing the sides of the blank folded over the central portion thereof. Fig. 3 stilhfurther shows the manner of folding the blank. a central sectional View, as seen on line {Jr-l, Fig. 3. i
In the specification the drawings are re,- ferred to by numerals of reference, thesame numerals referring to correspondingparts throughout the several views.
In the drawings, 7 is a blank, which is substantially rectangular in form and provided upon one side with two flaps or extensions 8 near the ends thereof and with a. centrally arranged flap or extension 9. The flaps 8 and 9 are preferably gummed so that when the blank is folded, the same may be secured to adjacent portions of the blank, as hereinafter more clearly set forth. I The face of the blank 7 may be used forthe message to be transmitted and the central portion or the back may be used for the address of the party to whom the message is to be sent.
The blank is scored by vertical lines 10 and 11 and with a horizontal line 12, and the meeting edge of the body of the blank and the flaps is also preferably scored.
" When the message has been written upon the blank, the sides 13 and 14 are folded upon the scored lines 10 and 11, as clearly shown in Fig. 2. The bottom portion of the blank is then folded upwardly on the score line 12 and'the flaps 8 are folded downwardly thereover and stuck thereto by means of the gum upon said flaps, as clearly shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings. The flaps 8 are preferably narrower than the flap 9 so that the flap 9 may be folded 'thereover and secured to the body of the'blank at a point beyond said flaps. When it is necessary to send an inclosure the same may be inserted into the spar-515, between the folded portions of the blank and the body thereof,
as clearly shown in Fig. 4.
By employing my improved form of combined letter-head and envelop, the message written upon the same will be hidden from view and it will be unnecessary to use the ordinary form of envelop to inclose the same.
The blanks herein described r'eq, Ire but very little material in the making, "in 'addition to the material used in the ordinary form of letter-head and may be very cheaply and easily cut from sheets of material.
What I claim as new is:
1. An envelop blank comprising a rectangular body portion, and a central flap and smaller end flaps extending from one of the longitudinal" edges thereof.
2. An envelop blank comprising a rectangular body "portion, a central flap and scored along the longitudinal center thereof,
and also on transverse parallel lines between each of said flaps, said blank being adapted to be folded along said scores.
In testimony whereof I have signed my nameto this specification in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
