ATTORNEY UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM J. GRAHAM, or BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
WATERPROOF BAG;
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed May 6, 1911, Serial No. 825,489. Renewed .Tune 28, 1912. Serial No 706,471.
To all whom it may concern:
1 Be it known that I, WILLIAM J. GRAHAM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of'New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Waterproof Bags, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to purses and its object -is to provide a Water proof which can be carried by bathers to ho their valuables while in the water as will be more fully described in the following specification, set forth in the claim and illustrated in the drawing, wherein,
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the purse or bag. Fig. 2. is a sectional view. Fig. 3 is a modified form.
The bag 5. is of rubber or other water proof material and preferably made of one piece with the open edges at its upper end, folded around a pair of frames 6, one of which has a tongue 7 and the other a groove 8% The upper ends of the bag pass around the inner faces of the frames 6 and around their outer surfaces, terminating at 9. On the outside of the frames 6 are the yokes 10, hinged at their lower ends 11 the ends 9 of the bag being clamped between the yokes and the frames 6 and united to the frames by means of rivets 12. When the two yokes 10 are closed, they are held together by means of the U-shaped clamps 13 which are adapted to pass over the upper part of the yokes so, as to press the two together and form a water tight joint at the upper end of the bag 5 and around the sides 14 of the yokes. v
On one or both of the yokes is formed a loop 15 through which the belt of the 7 site frame .to force the two upper bather ma ass so that he may wear the device whi e athing. It is obvious that he may also carry cigars ,01' matches in the device if he desires.
In Fig. 3 the modified form provides for the inner frames 16 which are enveloped by the outer yokes 17, having the depending portions 18 with suitable tongues and grooves 19 so as to force together the upper ends 20 of the ha and form a water prodf seal to prevent t e entrance of water to the ba By this simple construction a water tig t bag is secured which may be carried by the bather and leakage prevented by means of the tongue and move joint so that no water will enter the agand the contents may be preserved and secured from damage.
It is obvious that other modifications may be resorted to without de arting from the essential features above d scribed.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,-
In a water-proof purse or bag, the combination with a bag, of hinged yokeshavin'g recesses around their inner faces, hinged frames one of them having a groove and fitting in the recesses and adapted to clamp the ends of the bag between same, and a tongue on the face of one of the frames i and adapted to fit in a groove in the oppoedges of the bag together. j In testimonfv in presence 0 two witnesses.
