然而,小翼存在問題,因為其需要專門的熱密封條以有效地將小翼密封至撓性膜包裝。專門的熱密封條需要與噴口基底及小翼之形狀配合之獨特形狀。另外,熱密封方法需要噴口與膜之間的精確及配合對準以確保噴口與膜取向平行對準。
如此,由於(1)專門的熱密封設備之費用,(2)精確密封條-小翼對準之生產停機時間,(3)精確噴口-膜對準所需的生產停機時間,(4)歸因於未對準之故障率(洩漏)及(5)在傾倒小袋生產之各階段所需的品質控制步驟,撓性 小袋之生產具有低效性。
本領域認識到傾倒小袋生產過程中需要替代方法。本領域進一步認識到需要避免具有小翼之噴口之生產缺點之改良的傾倒口。
本發明提供一改良的配件及傾倒小袋之伴隨改良的配件密封。本發明配件減少用於生產配件自身之材料量且亦簡化傾倒小袋生產方法。
本發明提供一種方法。在一實施例中,所述方法包含:A.提供具有一基底之一配件,所述基底包括一乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物;B.將所述基底放置在兩個相對多層膜之間,各多層膜具有一各別密封層,所述密封層包括一基於烯烴之聚合物;C.用相對經加熱之扁平密封條將所述基底扁平密封至各多層膜,所述扁平密封在扁平化基底末端處形成相對密封接頭;及D.用相對彎曲密封條點密封所述相對密封接頭。

在一實施例中,乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物在連續方法中產生且具有1.7至3.5,或1.8至3,或1.8至2.5,或1.8至2.2之多分散指數(Mw/Mn)。當在分批或半分批方法中產生時,乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物具有1.0至3.5,或1.3至3,或1.4至2.5,或1.4至2之Mw/Mn。
另外,乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物具有擬合舒爾茨-弗洛里分佈(Schultz-Flory distribution)而非泊松分佈(Poisson distribution)之PDI(或Mw/Mn)。本發明乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物具有多分散嵌段分佈以及嵌段尺寸之多分 散分佈兩者。此導致形成具有改良且可區別的物理特性之聚合物產物。多分散嵌段分佈之理論益處先前已在Potemkin,Physical Review E(1998)57(6),第6902-6912頁及Dobrynin,J.Chem.Phvs.(1997)107(21),第9234-9238頁中建模且論述。

本發明乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物可包括兩個或兩個以上本文所揭示之實施例。
在一實施例中,乙烯/辛烯多嵌段共聚物以商品名INFUSETM出售,可獲自美國密歇根州密德蘭陶氏化學公司(The Dow Chemical Company,Midland,Michigan,USA)。在另一實施例中,乙烯/辛烯多嵌段共聚物為INFUSETM 9817。
在一實施例中,乙烯/辛烯多嵌段共聚物為INFUSETM 9500。
在一實施例中,乙烯/辛烯多嵌段共聚物為INFUSETM 9507。
B.多層膜
所述方法包含在兩個相對多層膜之間放置配件基底。將基底12放置或以其他方式安置在兩個相對多層膜(多層膜16與多層膜18)之間,如圖2中所示。各多層膜具有含有基於烯烴之聚合物之各別密封層。
在一實施例中,各多層膜為撓性的且具有至少兩個或至少三個層。撓性多層膜為彈性、撓性、可變形且可彎曲的。用於各多層膜之結構及組成可相同或不同。舉例而言,兩個相對多層膜中之每一者可由單獨網製成,各網具有獨特 結構及/或獨特組成、修飾面層或印記。替代地,各多層膜可為相同結構及相同組成。
在一實施例中,各多層膜16、18為具有相同結構及相同組成之撓性多層膜。
各撓性多層膜16、18可為(i)共擠多層結構或(ii)層壓件或(iii)(i)及(ii)之組合。在一實施例中,各撓性多層膜16、18具有至少三個層:密封層、外層及之間的連接層。連接層使密封層與外層鄰接。撓性多層膜可包含一或多個安置於密封層與外層之間的視情況存在之內層。
在一實施例中,撓性多層膜為具有至少兩個或三個或四個或五個或六個或七至八個或九個或10個或11個或更多個層之共擠膜。例如用於建構膜之一些方法係藉由鑄造共擠壓或吹塑共擠壓方法、黏著劑層壓、擠壓層壓、熱層壓及塗佈,諸如氣相沈積。此等方法之組合亦為可能的。除聚合材料外,膜層亦可包括添加劑,諸如穩定劑、助滑添加劑、防黏添加劑、加工助劑、澄清劑、成核劑、顏料或著色劑、填充劑及增強劑及如包裝工業中常用之類似物。特別有用的是選擇具有適合的官能及或光學特性之添加劑及聚合材料。
密封層為能夠使膜彼此密封且能夠密封至配件之材料。用於密封層適合的聚合材料之非限制性實例包含基於烯烴之聚合物(包含任何直鏈或分支鏈乙烯/C3-C10 α-烯烴共聚物)、基於丙烯之聚合物(包含塑性體及彈性體、無規丙烯共聚物、丙烯均聚物及丙烯抗衝擊共聚物)、基於乙烯之聚合物(包含塑性體及彈性體、高密度聚乙烯(「HDPE」)、低密度聚乙烯(「LDPE」)、線性低密度聚乙烯(「LLDPE」)、中 密度聚乙烯(「MDPE」)、乙烯-丙烯酸或乙烯-甲基丙烯酸及其與鋅、鈉、鋰、鉀、鎂鹽之離聚物、乙烯乙酸乙烯酯共聚物)及其摻合物。
用於外層適合的聚合材料之非限制性實例包含用於製得層壓以及共擠膜之雙軸或單軸取向膜之彼等者。一些非限制性聚合材料實例為雙軸取向之聚對苯二甲酸乙二酯(OPET)、單軸取向之耐綸(nylon)(MON)、雙軸取向之耐綸(BON)及雙軸取向之聚丙烯(BOPP)。出於結構性益處,適用於構建膜層之其他聚合材料為聚丙烯(諸如丙烯均聚物、無規丙烯共聚物、丙烯抗衝擊共聚物、熱塑性聚丙烯(TPO)及其類似者、基於丙烯之塑性體(例如VERSIFYTM或VISTAMAXTM))、聚醯胺(諸如耐綸6、耐綸6,6、耐綸6,66、耐綸6,12、耐綸12等)、聚乙烯降冰片烯、環烯烴共聚物、聚丙烯腈、聚酯、共聚酯(諸如PETG)、纖維素酯、聚乙烯及乙烯之共聚物(例如基於乙烯辛烯共聚物之LLDPE,諸如DOWLEXTM)、其摻合物及其多層組合。
用於連接層適合的聚合材料之非限制性實例包含官能化基於乙烯之聚合物,諸如乙烯-乙酸乙烯酯(「EVA」);順丁烯二酸酐接枝至聚烯烴之聚合物,諸如任何聚乙烯、乙烯-共聚物或聚丙烯;及乙烯丙烯酸酯共聚物,諸如乙烯丙烯酸甲酯(「EMA」)、含縮水甘油基乙烯共聚物;基於丙烯及乙烯之烯烴嵌段共聚物(OBC),諸如INTUNETM(PP-OBC)及INFUSETM(PE-OBC),兩者均可獲自陶氏化學公司及其摻合物。
撓性多層膜可包含額外層,其可有助於結構完整 性或提供特定特性。額外層可藉由直接手段或藉由使用連接至相鄰聚合物層之適當的連接層添加。可向結構中添加可提供額外機械效能(諸如硬度或不透明度)之聚合物以及可提供氣體障壁特性或耐化學性之聚合物。
用於視情況存在之障壁層適合的材料之非限制性實例包含偏氯乙烯及丙烯酸甲酯、甲基丙烯酸甲酯或氯乙烯之共聚物(例如可購自陶氏化學公司之SARANTM樹脂);乙烯基乙烯乙烯醇(EVOH)、金屬箔(諸如鋁箔)。替代地,當用於層壓多層膜中時,經改質聚合膜,諸如諸如BON、OPET或OPP膜上之蒸氣沈積之鋁或氧化矽,可用於獲得障壁特性。

在一實施例中,撓性多層膜為共擠(或層壓)五層或共擠(或層壓)七層膜,其具有至少一個含有OPET或OPP之層。
在一實施例中,撓性多層膜為共擠(或層壓)五層或共擠(或層壓)七層膜,其具有至少一個含有聚醯胺之層。
在一實施例中,撓性多層膜為七層共擠(或層壓)膜,其具有由基於乙烯之聚合物或乙烯及α-烯烴單體(諸如1-丁烯、1-己烯或1-辛烯)之線性或實質上線性聚合物或單點催化之線性或實質上線性聚合物構成之密封層,所述聚合物之Tm為90℃至106℃。外層為具有170℃至270℃之Tm之 聚醯胺。膜之△Tm為40℃至200℃。膜具有由不同於密封層中基於乙烯之聚合物之第二基於乙烯之聚合物構成之內層(第一內層)。膜具有由與外層中之聚醯胺相同或不同之聚醯胺構成之內層(第二內層)。七層膜具有100微米至250微米之厚度。
C.扁平密封
本發明方法包含用相對經加熱之扁平密封條扁平密封基底。圖2顯示位於多層膜16與多層膜18之間的基底12。術語「扁平密封」為用相對扁平熱密封條壓縮基底12以使得基底壁15之相對內部部分彼此接觸或以其他方式觸碰之行為。基底12位於或以其他方式「包夾」在多層膜16與多層膜18之間。使膜-基底-膜夾層移動至第一密封工位且放置在扁平密封條20與扁平密封條22之間。扁平密封條20與扁平密封條22相對且扁平密封條20、22包含適合的結構及機制以使密封條朝向且遠離彼此移動以便進行熱密封程序。加熱扁平密封條20及22,且所述方法包含扁平密封基底12,其中所述基底包夾在多層膜16與多層膜18之間。扁平密封在基底12之扁平化末端23、25處形成相對密封接頭24、26,如圖3中所示。
扁平密封步驟包含將各多層膜16、18鄰接或以其他方式焊接至基底12之各別上部13a及底部13b,如圖3及4中所示。
在一實施例中,所述方法包含:(i)針對基底選擇具有115℃至125℃之熔融溫度Tm1之乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物; (ii)針對密封層選擇具有熔融溫度Tm2之基於烯烴之聚合物,使得Tm2比Tm1低10℃至40℃。
在一實施例中,Tm2比Tm1低10℃,或15℃,或20℃至25℃,或30℃,或35℃,或40℃。
在一實施例中,各密封層由基於乙烯之聚合物形成,所述聚合物具有比基底12中乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物之Tm1低10℃至40℃的Tm2。將扁平密封條20、22加熱至高於或等於密封層基於乙烯之聚合物之熔融溫度(Tm2)且低於或等於基底12之熔融溫度Tm1(或達到至少乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物之軟化溫度)之溫度。相對扁平條扁平密封條20、22所賦予之壓縮力及熱量同時(i)平化基底12或以其他方式使其變形;(ii)抵著基底12之外表面壓縮各多層膜16、18之密封層;(iii)在扁平化基底12之相對末端上形成密封接頭24及密封接頭26;(iv)熔融密封層中基於乙烯之聚合物;(v)軟化及/或熔融基底12中所存在之至少一些乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物;(vi)形成可流動填縫劑28,其由(a)來自基底之乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物、(b)來自密封層之基於乙烯之聚合物或(c)(a)與(b)之組合構成;及(vii)將上部/底部13a、13b焊接至膜16、18之各別密封層。
在一實施例中,扁平化步驟需要以下密封條件中之一者、一些或全部:(i)160℃,或170℃至180℃,或190℃,或200℃之溫度;(ii)700牛頓(N),或750N至800N,或850N,或900N之壓力(或密封力); (iii)施加(i)及/或(ii)持續0.1秒,或0.5秒,或0.75秒,或1.0第二,或2.0秒,或3.0秒,或4.0秒,或5.0秒至6.0秒,或7.0秒,或0.75秒,或8.0秒,或9.0秒或10秒之持續時間(密封時間或停留時間)。
壓縮力使基底12完全自身收縮,以使得基底之相對扁平化側面彼此接觸,封閉基底12,且使基底12產生線性組態B,如圖3中所示。
在一實施例中,壓縮力及封閉式扁平密封條20、22之加熱迫使可流動填縫劑28自基底12之外表面移動或以其他方式流動且進入密封接頭24且進入密封接頭26。填縫劑28流入且填充(完全或部分)密封接頭24及密封接頭26,如圖3及4中所示。
所述方法包含打開封閉式扁平密封條20、22,從而自基底12移除壓縮力且移除熱量。當打開封閉式扁平密封條20、22時,基底12中由乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物提供之彈性使得基底12能夠自線性經壓縮組態B回彈或以其他方式彈回且返回至打開位置,如圖4中所示。基底12之回彈運動用圖4中之箭頭G顯示。在回彈之情況下,基底壁15之相對內部部分遠離彼此移動且彼此不再接觸。基底12之內部不與自身密封。在回彈之情況下,在扁平密封步驟之後,基底12恢復且開至橢圓形橫截面形狀,如圖4-6中所示。
在一實施例中,扁平化後基底12可具有圓形或橢圓形橫截面C,如圖4中所示。申請人發現,由乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物構成且具有0.3mm至2.0mm之壁15厚度之基底12使得基底12能夠在完全收縮期間耐受壓縮力,而無 諸如龜裂、破裂或斷裂之損壞,又有利地具有足夠的彈性以在打開扁平密封條20、22後彈回打開組態。
打開封閉式扁平密封條形成如圖4中所示之焊接構造30,其中在上部13a處多層膜16焊接至基底12,在底部13b處多層膜18焊接至基底12,且多層膜彼此焊接,其中密封層直接彼此接觸。
D.點密封
所述方法包含用相對彎曲密封條點密封相對密封接頭。在扁平密封步驟之後,將焊接構造30移至第二密封工位。在第二密封工位下,相對彎曲密封條32、34接近焊接構造30。構造各彎曲密封條32、34以使得封閉式彎曲密封條32、34之直徑D大於基底12之直徑E,如圖5中所示。在第二密封工位下,填縫劑28為可流動的或以其他方式有延展性的。在封閉後,相對彎曲密封條32、34在密封接頭24及密封接頭26處施加壓縮力。因此,如本文所使用,「點密封」為在與基底上部13a或基底底部13b不接觸或輕微接觸之情況下,在密封接頭24處及密封接頭26處用相對彎曲密封條施加壓縮力之行為。以此方式,點密封在密封接頭24處將密封層16、18及填縫劑28捏合在一起,封閉密封接頭24。類似地,點密封在密封接頭26處將密封層16、18及填縫劑28捏合在一起,封閉密封接頭26。點密封填充或以其他方式封閉密封接頭24、26處之任何其餘空隙。在捏合期間,封閉式彎曲密封條32、34在基底上部13a或基底底部13b上不施加或實質上不施加熱量或壓縮力。
點密封步驟施加壓縮及捏合力持續足夠的持續 時間以使得填縫劑28能夠凝結且凝固,從而在密封接頭24、26處將多層膜16、18與基底12緊緊黏合。凝固之填縫劑28形成就地小翼36、38(圖6),其完全填充各別密封接頭24、26且在基底12與多層膜16、18之間形成氣密密封。如本文所使用,「就地小翼」為基底12之延伸部分之結構,就地小翼為由乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物(來自基底)構成之可流動填縫劑(填縫劑28)之聚合凝固,填縫劑在基底在加熱下扁平化時產生,填縫劑在隨後捏合且封閉膜與基底之間的密封接頭時凝固。就地小翼由(i)乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物(來自基底12)或(ii)乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物與基於烯烴之聚合物(來自密封層)之摻合物構成,或以其他方式由其形成。以此方式,在點密封方法期間,點密封步驟就地形成小翼。
在一實施例中,點密封步驟(利用相對彎曲密封條32、34)包含以下密封條件中之一者、一些或全部:(i)18℃,或20℃,或22℃至25℃,或30℃之溫度;(ii)700N,或750N至800N,或850N,或900N之壓力(或密封力);(iii)施加(i)及/或(ii)持續0.1秒,或0.5秒,或1.0秒,或2.0秒,或3.0秒,或4.0秒,或5.0秒至6.0秒,或7.0秒,或8.0秒,或9.0秒或10秒之持續時間(密封時間或停留時間)。
在一實施例中,所述方法包含形成具有0.5mm或1.0mm或2.0mm或3.0mm或4.0mm或5.0mm之長度F 之小翼36及/小翼38。
在一實施例中,使焊接構造冷卻。點密封在高溫下進行且填充密封接頭或焊接構造之其他部分處之任何其餘空隙。
E.撓性容器
所述方法包含形成撓性容器。相對多層膜16、18彼此重疊且形成共用外圍邊緣40,如圖7中所示。所述方法包含沿著共用外圍邊緣密封多層膜16、18及形成撓性容器42。形成沿著共用外圍邊緣40之密封可在扁平化步驟之前、期間或之後進行。形成沿著共用外圍邊緣之密封可在點密封步驟之前、期間或之後進行。所述方法在基底12與多層膜16及18之間形成氣密密封44。
將配件扁平條密封至膜以製得容器之熱量及應力受到限制。由低彈性聚烯烴(例如LDPE、HDPE)構成之配件壓碎、破裂、斷裂且為不可用的。由聚烯烴彈性體(例如ENGAGE或VERSIFY彈性體)構成之配件可展現變形,但不會充分恢復或焊接封閉。由交聯彈性體(例如TPV)構成之配件可充分恢復,但不會充分密封且不會形成氣密密封。申請人出人意料地發現,由本發明乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物構成之配件恢復(回彈),將不會與自身密封且將使用扁平條密封來將配件密封至容器之膜。
藉助於實例且非限制,提供本發明之實例。

Claims (15)

  1. 一種將一配件密封至一膜上的方法,包括:A.提供具有一基底之所述配件,所述基底包括一乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物;B.將所述基底放置在兩個相對多層膜之間,各多層膜具有一各別密封層,所述密封層包括一基於烯烴之聚合物;C.用相對經加熱之扁平密封條將所述基底之末端扁平密封至各多層膜,所述扁平密封在扁平化基底末端處形成相對密封接頭,所述扁平密封包括:用相對扁平密封條將所述基底加熱至一達到至少所述乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物之軟化點之溫度;形成一填縫劑,所述填縫劑包括一選自由來自所述密封層之熔融聚烯烴、來自所述基底之熔融乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物及其組合組成之群的材料;用所述填縫劑填充所述相對密封接頭;及D.用相對彎曲密封條點密封所述相對密封接頭以封閉在各密封接頭處的任何空隙,所述點密封包括凝固所述相對密封接頭的填縫劑以形成由凝固之填縫劑構成之就地小翼。
  2. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述的方法,包括使所述基底回彈以形成一橢圓形橫截面形狀。

  12. 如申請專利範圍第11項所述的方法,其中所述點密封包括在與所述基底之下部不接觸的情況下在各密封接頭處施加壓縮力。
  13. 如申請專利範圍第12項所述的方法,其中所述點密封包括在各密封接頭處將所述密封層與所述填縫劑捏合在一起;及封閉各密封接頭。
  14. 如申請專利範圍第11項所述的方法,其中該點密封包括封閉所述彎曲密封條以提供經封閉密封條,所述經封閉密封條具有一大於該基底直徑的直徑。
  15. 一種將一配件密封至一膜上的方法,包括:A.提供具有一基底之所述配件,所述基底包括一乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物; B.將所述基底放置在兩個相對多層膜之間,各多層膜具有一各別密封層,所述密封層包括一基於烯烴之聚合物;C.用相對經加熱之扁平密封條將所述基底之末端扁平密封至各多層膜,所述扁平密封包括:用相對扁平密封條將所述基底加熱至一溫度,所述溫度至少為所述乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物之軟化點之溫度;形成一填縫劑,所述填縫劑包括一選自由來自所述密封層之熔融聚烯烴、來自所述基底之熔融乙烯/α-烯烴多嵌段共聚物及其組合組成之群的材料;用所述填縫劑填充所述相對密封接頭,所述扁平密封在扁平化基底末端處形成相對密封接頭;及D.用相對彎曲密封條點密封所述相對密封接頭以封閉在各密封接頭處的任何空隙,所述點密封包括凝固所述相對密封接頭的填縫劑以形成由凝固之填縫劑構成之就地小翼;以及E.在所述各相對密封接頭處之所述膜與所述配件之間用所述就地小翼形成一密封。
