Abstract

The invention provides a spun fibre yarn e.g. for textile application and having a non-twisted structure with parallel strands, comprising open and closed zones, the fibres being interlaced and non-bonded in the closed zones and having parallel strands in the open zones, the open zones furthermore having free ends, the yarn having also a support for the interlaced strands in a central, or core, position around which are wound the free ends of the open zones, the length of the free ends being at least equal to the mean circumference of the support, so that the free ends form an envelope, the cohesion factor of the yarn being greater than 100. Such yarns are made by feeding at least one sliver of fibres to a drawing unit 3 and then to at least one open single-jet interlacing nozzle 6 fed with gaseous fluid, and the product obtained is then passed through a false-twist device 10 and collected at a speed of at least 60 m/min. <IMAGE>
