Abstract

The sediment (12) of oil sludge in a storage tank (11) is made very liquid through supplying heat in a heat exchanger (18) and then pumping it over to a sedimentation tank (22), from which the overhead oil, after sedimentation, is pumped away for use. The solid material that has been sedimented out is led away to a refuse works or a place for depositing the material, possibly after the water above the sediment has been drained off. Heat supply to the sediment (12) occurs in a circulation system (13) with intake and outflow devices (14, 20) placed in the middle of the sludge. The outflow (20) includes a nozzle, which through radiation causes the surrounding liquid mass to circulate around a vertical axis line.<IMAGE>
