Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of powder metallurgy, in particular to methods for the manufacture of sintered hard alloys used for the manufacture of cutting tools.
A known method of manufacturing a sintered hard alloy for a cutting tool, according to which a tungsten carbide nanopowder with a grain size of not more than 200 nm in an amount not exceeding 20% of the tungsten carbide powder with a grain size of 1-3 μm alloy mass (see application of VNIIINSTRUMENT OJSC No. 2009143995 dated November 30, 2009).
This method of manufacturing a hard alloy can significantly increase the wear resistance of hard alloys, which is especially important for finishing types of processing materials. However, when processing materials where more severe cutting conditions are used, the use of this alloy is limited, since during sintering when forming a carbide "skeleton" from grains of a 1-3 micron fraction, a significant amount of grains of a 200 nm fraction fall. As a result of this heterogeneity of the carbide "skeleton", the strength characteristics of the hard alloy are reduced.
There is also known a method for producing a sintered hard alloy for manufacturing a cutting tool, according to which a mixture based on tungsten carbide powders of fractions less than 2.5 microns and 4-30 microns, containing cobalt powder of fractions of 0.5-5 microns, tantalum carbide fractions of not more than 2 microns , mixed with a plasticizer, followed by pressing and sintering (see ed. certificate. SU 1714863 from 03/27/90, class B22F 1/00, C22C 29/08 - prototype).
By this method, an alloy is obtained with a carbide phase having a polydisperse (bimodal) structure, consisting of two fractions of tungsten carbide grains, sharply different in size, and representing two carbide "skeletons" embedded in each other.
The coarse-grained "skeleton" in combination with the addition of tantalum carbide provides increased plastic deformation of the alloys, and the fine-grained "skeleton" of tungsten carbide in combination with the addition of tantalum carbide provides increased wear resistance of the alloy under shock loads.
However, in the manufacture of hard alloys by this method, the formation of two “skeletons” does not ensure their uniformity, grains of fine-grained tungsten carbide to a large extent fall into the coarse “skeleton”, which weakens its strength characteristics, and hence the strength of the hard alloy itself.
The proposed method allows to increase the strength characteristics of the hard alloy, which makes it possible to increase the wear resistance and heat resistance of the cutting tool.
This goal is achieved by the fact that in the known method for producing sintered hard alloy for the manufacture of a cutting tool, in which a mixture based on tungsten carbide powders with fractions of up to 2 μm and 4-30 μm containing cobalt powder is mixed with a plasticizer, followed by pressing and sintering, according to The invention, the mixing of the charge of two fractions of different sizes according to the grain with a plasticizer is carried out separately, and then they are mixed together. Moreover, the charge fractions up to 2 microns is 20-80% of the total volume.
In addition, an aluminum trioxide powder with a fraction of up to 0.2 μm is additionally introduced into a charge with a fraction size of up to 2 μm.
This manufacture allows you to limit the ingress of the fine fraction during the formation of the "skeleton" of the coarse-grained fraction, which increases its uniformity, and hence the strength characteristics of the hard alloy. The introduction of a fine-grained fraction up to 80% and its uniformity significantly increases the wear resistance of the hard alloy. Adding to the mixture of aluminum trioxide can increase the uniformity of the fraction to 2 microns and increase the heat resistance of the hard alloy. Changing the content of the fine fraction from 20 to 80% allows you to create alloys of widespread use:
70-80% - для чистовой обработки;70-80% - for finishing;
60-70% - для получистовой обработки;60-70% - for semi-finishing;
40-60% - для чернового точения;40-60% - for rough turning;
20-40% - for milling.
